I have decided that I'm going to sew my baby a sling instead of looking all over tim-buk-two for one and not being able to find one anywhere! I have sewn carriers before, but this is my first try at a ring sling. I'm having some issues finding rings for it. The only place that I seem to be able to find any are online, unfourentately. Some women were saying that they can find rings at hardware stores....so far, I have done nothing but confused the guys at these hardware stores when I tell them what I'm looking for..... what AM I looking for!? LOL I think I may just have to get my mom to order some online for me since I have no credit cards...but 1) I would really like to aviod asking her to do that, and 2) I have no idea is any of the sites ship to Canada.
Ask for metal o-rings 3-4" Makw sure there welded shut. And DO NOT use d-rings one can turn and slipthrough the other. These can be found in the chain section often. They can also be found in camping, boating stores.
Make sure they are weight-tested. Also, I really highly recommend the nylon rings they have at slingrings.com. They don't have seams, they are really sturdy, you can run them through the washer w/o racket. I think I have an extra set, if you want to get 'em or make you a sling for cheap pm me.
