    hey
im coming to Amsterdam in November with a mate and wanted to know if it was a really busy time of the year and if we were going to be able to easily get accomodation in hostels or hotels because of the cannabis cup?

i plan on going to the cannabis cup but also coffeeshops. do they have a shortage of weed or strains at that time of year?

    thanks

    Hi Reefer121,
Amsterdam seems to always be busy and full of tourists. Some coffeeshops are packed to the ceiling w/laminate wearing cup participants some are not even busy at all. Lodging is a different story.

Best advice is to book in advance. Site to try for researching hostels: Hostelworld.com

Hotels: In my past research I find that the hotels that are under 100 euros a night are sold out well in advance of the cup. Some increase their prices and have minimum stays during the cup as do some hostels.

I don't go to the CC but I go to Amsterdam every year during the cup and I book my accomodations months in advance.

If you book your bed by the end of October you will be able to find beds and you should have a limited choice of hostels. Most of the more popular hostels will be nearing capacity by the last week of October since lot of people who come for the cup come to Amsterdam a few days before the cup and/or stay a few days after it ends.

Hostels w/private rooms will have most likely sold out their private rooms by the end of October.

I can't tell from you post if you mean to arrive in Amsterdam for the Cup w/out booking a bed prior. If this is what you mean you may want to rethink. All beds in all hostels (save the Christian one, maybe) will be sold out. You and your mate will have the most misreable experience ever walking around Amsterdam staring at "sold out" signs and choices will be either none, take hours to find, be extra expensive or in Haarlem. I actually met two men who slept in Vondelpark for two days last November because there were no beds in Amsterdam.

    Weed:
There will be no shortages of weed or strains during that time. Cannabis Cup is not that big.
