It wasn't even a bad movie. Though I certainly wouldn't recommend it .... to anyone. It was a lot of talking. Talking heads, basically. The kid from Dazed and Confused was in it, and, from what I gather, Ethan Hawk(e)(?) plays a character he has played before. The animation kept it reasonable for people that don't like talking heads to watch.

Hi. I'm Miguel. I like to dance.

    Do you?

waking life is an excelent movie why wouldnt u recomend it?
ofcourse it takes a brain to watch it its not the typical mindless bullshit hollywood tends to pump out
    waking life is pure brilliance
compare that to the crap that seems to always be boxoffice smashes & you can only assume that the average movie goer has an iq of around 6
whats wrong woith a brilliant movie that makes you think?

    Two reasons.

Ultimately, and most importantly, I would not recommend it because it does, indeed, take a brain to watch. You are right that hollywood tends to spew mindless crap of the smash-hit variety. This is what is expected of movies in most crowds. I don't have the luxury of being surrounded by a crowd that might enjoy a little brain food, which is what Waking Life aspires to be. Thus I would not recommend it.

Second, and much less importantly, because I did not find much real insight in the movie. It was very topical. Moving from one opinion to another without any real or significant input. While it is always interesting to hear well thought out, and FULLY structured points of view, whilst watching pretty trippy animations, the moviegoer interested in fully appreciating a film like Waking Life would be better off picking up Descartes and starting at the very beginning.

Perhaps I should rephrase what I said ..... I wouldn't recommend it to just anybody.

Sup Miguel. Ya, waking life is a great movie. I showed it to my friend a couple days ago, and he didn't like it (he was constantly asking, "Is this when the zombies come?")
The only flaw in the movie, which isn't too bad in my mind, is that the movie tends to talk more than ask questions. But the opinions shown there are definately interesting.
