Because it was only by stepping outside society that people were able to look at it objectively- to see what was wrong with it, to see how they'd like to change it. Nice quote I liked from the book Hippie.
well said, very well said & lets all add more reasons why think about what hippies are doing all over the world theyre doing the things that need to be done to create a better future right? not living for today tossing away tomorow buying the biggest suv they can & guzzling away every last gallon of fuel fast as they can hippies are the ones finding solutions..i would gues if you took a poll of all veggie oil or alternative fueled vehicles largly thered be hippies behind the wheel.. then take a look at what happened during katrina & the government failing to help devastated communities & dying people & who got off theyre butts & did what hadta be done but a bunch of u guessed it hippies.. hippies have always been imortant for 1 simple reason, everyone else accepts things as they are as inevitably how they are to be & hippies say but why, we can change reality
I think it's enough to spread love, peace, and good energy in this world that is often ridden with corruption, violence, and narrow-minded misunderstandings. I think what we do is a great, great thing.
and people dont seem to notice as we slowly become a caste society, by furthing the social gap between the rich and poor, and those step outside of this and notice what western civilization are important. Someday one of them will step, or many of them will. Thats why Hippies are important
