Does anyone know if doctors are willing to prescribe buprenorphine as an antidepressant? I have read some literature on it and seems to be pretty effective. I also think you could really kill two birds with one stone with this drug. Because, since it has antidepressant properties your problems with depression could really improve because as we all know opioids will make you happy know matter who you are. Secondly, it is an opioid so if you are taking it you won't feel the need to obtain another type of opioid. I desperately need to be on this drug because opiate/opioids are the only thing that make me a happy person, plain and simple. SSRI's were totally ineffective with me. I know I can easily obtain this drug by saying i'm an opiate addict but I really don't want that on my medical record. Any thoughts?

You have to find a doctor that prescribes Suboxone first off... And sometimes that can be a bitch in its self. There are multiple lists of doctors on the internet that can prescribe it, but it will cost you a lot of money, no matter which doctor you choice. A lot of insurance companies wont cover much of the cost of the pills unless you are hooked bad. They are effective, but you wouldn't be very likely to get prescribed Suboxone for depression. It is possible to abuse Suboxone so be careful. It is supposed to be a "short term" pill. Your doses start off at, depending on the addiction, 8-16mgs a day. And eventually you get weined off over a couple weeks.
