I'm going to have one seriously hairy kid if the tales are true!!!!!!!
This heart burn will just not stop!
When I had it with Leane it was manageable....now it's keeping me up at night! There's even times when there's no burning, but instead it feels like I'm choking on something, and someone just kicked me in the chest.
When I asked the midwife who was running our group appointment the other day about this, she shrugged her shoulders. Oh so helpful.....
Anyone have any suggestions for curbing this!?

I seem to remember something strange about... papaya enzymes or something like that? I'm sure a more experienced mama can give you a better answer. Does upping your water intake help at all?

Hope you find a way to manage it! I've heard insomnia in the 3rd tri is really bad too, this on top can't help at all!

Yogurt seemed to help me...and I took a prescription for it when it really got bad. Mine was very few and far in between after awhile. And the final outcome....my son has just enough hair to know he isn't bald!
My best friend's sister had a baby in March with a serious head full of hair, and she never had heart burn once! So I guess you never know!

I don't know about w/pregnancy, but be careful consuming dairy for indigestion! Usually, if you have high acid levels going on in your gut, introducing dairy to the mix can curdle the milk and add to the problem. But from everything I know w/pregnancy the indigestion is more caused by baby pushing and reducing the space you normally have in your stomach/digestive tract. Going from that assumption you can also look forward to it (probably) ending when he turns! :)

i had a terrible time with heartburn. Milk helped, bread helped. When it got really bad I took some Dioval. It worked really well and my doctor said it was safe... get the mint flavour. Its still gross, but a lot better than the fruit flavour.

I've seen/felt placentas from women who treated heartburn with antacid tablets and you can feel the calcium build up in it!! It's bizarre.

now that you mention the papaya thing, i remember the midwife a long time ago telling another girl in our class to either eat it, or to take papaya tablets...i think she called them something different...but yeah, she said that it changes the pH of your stomach and reduces the heart burn. Just wasn't sure how well it would work....and I didn't really listen too well cuz I didn't have any heartburn at that point and thought I had cleared it (guess I thought wrong LOL). with Lea Lea it started really soon and continued through the whole pregnancy....this time it just hit me in the last couple of weeks....figures, lol, almost made it through the whole pregnancy and kaboom!
Yeah, the insomnia kinda sucks, too. If my mind isn't racing, I'm just downright uncomfortable. This pregnancy is sooooooooooooooooooo much more uncomfortable than last time! i'm REALLY ready for him to come out!!! LOL

I suffered really bad with heartburn with all three of mine (and all 3 of them had a good head of hair...lol), as soon as i could feel it coming on, i would take some Gavascon (that was the only thing recomended to me).
