It's not quite as bizarre as you might think - Edinburgh has had a thriving samba school for years, I was with them when we played on the Mound until about 2am on Hogmanay 1995-6. Leith was the home of one of the leading lights of the samba school, the late Ian Heavens who also founded a samba-punk band called Bloco Vomit.
It may well need it...Scotland is not widely renowned for it's hot and sunny year round weather...not the UK as a whole for that matter.
Leith however, is bathed in eternal sunshine, as the Leith San Siro on Easter Road will always testify
