IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS OR KNOWS ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME. I go to college in one week from today, and I'll be damned if I'm going without my 9 + days worth of music. That took me forever to download / upload. When I put the memory stick into the usb port it doesn't show up on My Computer where it normally shows up. Also, it doesn't make the uplifting 'ba-DUNK' sound, but instead makes a very monotone 'ba-da-dunk' sound, if that makes sense. I'm not exactly sure how, but I managed to open this window thingy that shows which of my usb ports are used, and it says none of them are being used. But above it it says "The USB Mass Storage Device is a HI-SPEED USB device and will function at a reduced speed when plugged into a non-HI-SPEED port." I've always plugged it into the same port and haven't had problems before. And I've tried plugging it into all the ports. In addition, the memory stick does show up on my macbook (which is what I'm trying to transfer files to). Also, when I unplug the memory stick from the USB port, it makes the sound of something being unplugged from the USB port. You know, that 'BA-dunk sound'. Yeah. Also, I was just wondering if it's possible to upload music from an iPod nano to the iTunes library. Anyone know?
So without knowing some critical information (what OS's are you running on both computers, how much music {GB's or MB's} how log has it been since your "memory stick" stopped working, has it ever worked on both/either computers) ... I am going to guess that you need to format your "memory stick" to some format compatible with both Windows and OSX (I'm guessing these are the two OS's you are using, "My Computer"). I would download this HP tool, install it, plug in your "memory stick", reformat your "memory stick" with fat32, and try again. And you have to buy a program to upload music from a iPod to your computer. Just one idea, hopefuly of many.
oh man. i usually try to help ppl but... i dont think i can help unless you have some better knowlege of how an OS works. 1) try right-click on Start button and click 'Explore'. 2) now look for a drive labeled 'removeable... blah blah' and click on it. 3) that is the place you can drag-drop you music files to. 4) when your done, absolutely remember to unmount or 'remove/eject' your removable drive or else you will loose your music. 5) close all windows (in MS Windows OS) and click the little icon on the taskbar that has a mouse-over popup that says "remove/eject hardware... blah blah" you might have to "stop" the device. it may be called "generic volume". yes you can upload from the iPod to iTunes. well, at least you can on a Mac.
