Yes, the skies are clear and all is ready [IMG]

While it's only a lunar eclipse, my first real eclipse was on May 10, 1994 during the highly publicized annular solar eclipse. we drove to a lookout just south of the canadian border and it was incredible.

I don't remember that one. I do remember the solar eclipse that happened when I was a kid...not sure what year. Where there any in the late eighties or 1990?
erhmmmmm...I just looked and wasn't too impressed ): Going to go in half an hour and see the full eclipse. We get it for a couple hours down here.

It's just over the western horizon but the sun is coming up so quickly out of the east brightening the sky and obscuring the view

I forgot about it till just now reading this thread. I'm sitting on the back porch and all I had to do was look up straight ahead of me. It's kinda neat....almost totally blocked out now

i've seen a couple already and it's really not that impressive. just like watching the moon go through all its phases in an hour or so. i saw one solar eclipse and that was a lot cooler because i've never seen anything like it before or since

so there REALLY was one? i'm glad i wasn't just seeing things, or somebody hadn't nuked a big hole in it. this is about three or four hours ago my local time we're talking about?

somewhere arround 02:30, in the -8 timezone in northern california where i saw what looked like a big black hole in the middle of the moon, with nearly the whole rim vissible arround it, and one, lower left part of the dark spot even looked kind of red, almost like it was bleeding or something.

no i'm not on anything, and i didn't get up just to see it, although i might have if i'd known it was going to happen. rather i got up, as i usually do, about an hour or so after midnight, and today being trash day, went out to put the cans by the curb for the truck to pick up (yes the truck actually does pick them up, it has a mechanical arm on the side of it that does so).

so any way i wasn't sure what i was seeing for sure when i saw it, but i am greatly relieved to learn i actually wasn't "just seeing things".

Stupid question- When there is an eclipse, doesn't the moon get brighter?

I went out with the people that I work with here on the island...we woke up at 230 to watch it. It was pretty cool.

I think only the areas around the Pacific Ocean were able to see this one.

It was a beautiful shade of red and there was, ironically, many shooting stars last night too!
