Will be in Bloomington, Indiana, October 24-26, at the Tibetan Cultural Center giving a teaching on Atisha's Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment, for those interested in attending. I would suggest you look here for specifics on registration, accommodations and such. http://www.tibetancc.com/info/HHDL/Tickets.aspx I was all excited about going but discovered that it was during our Panssa period. Panssa is a time during the Southeastern Asian Rains period, and as such all Theravada Monks are required to stay in a Monastery during that time. That is, we can't stay away over night anywhere except at the temple where we take Panssa. HTML:
Wow. That's not far at all from a lot of my family. I will definitely have to make arrangements to hear him speak. Thank you for giving notice of this.
He's coming to SF right after Maui, the end of April. I'd love to see him. BTW, did you hear, his holiness is now on Al-Qaeda's hit list! Yikes! As if it wasn't bad enough being on China's hit list. I hear they've increased security for him. Not sure if it will affect his tour or not. Don't think he'd be afraid of anything.
According to The Austrian: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21493416-2703,00.html A three tier security ring has been erected around him. This reminds me of a comment by Alan Watts about the price of being King. The most powerful man in the kingdom has the least freedom of all. He must surround himself with his must trusted, then he must have a ring of indidivduals that don't trust the most trusted, then a ring of those that don't trust either; and the king sits in the center like a spider trapped in his own web. Better, perhaps, to be an unknown Taoist sage lost in the mountain mists!
Holy shnikes Batman. $275 for a ticket to the three day event? I guess I'd better start saving now, huh?
Way better! Of course if you don't share your wisdom, then it's pretty pointless for the rest of us. Sometimes those mountain sages have to come down from the mountain and visit their nearest Internet cafe and spread their enlightenment with the masses. But then they won't be unknown anymore, will they?
I'm trying to go, my mother is very hostile to the idea. If I can go, then it would be cool if we could all meet or something.
So I did just see him on Wednesday, and although there was a reported crowd of 10,000 there, the whole event felt peaceul and serene and it was wonderful to be in HH's presence. I didn't even notice until about halfway through, the snipers located on the watchtower. I heard he travels with a security team not unlike the secret service. Sort of ironic how the most peaceful man on Earth can be the most feared, so much that people/terrorist groups would want him taken out. I guess that is the nature of this messed up society! I'm glad so many people wanted to go see him though, and hear what he wanted to say....he gave a free talk the day before that and also a reported 10,000 so that makes 20,000 just on Maui! I'm not sure that many people even live here!
Namaste! Wow Lotus that sounds just amazing. So beautiful, to feel the peaceful, loving energy of That many thousdands of kind souls so close together and for the same purpose Im so glad to hear you had a blast!
