Ok, I'm just setting up my room for my first grow and seem to understand how everything works, but I'm curious about my ventilation needs. First off, I'm growing in a small, somewhat closed off space in my garage about the size of a closet but with one wall missing. I constructed a frame that I will attach reflective plastic to, to enclose this area off for lighting purposes, and will use a small fan to circulate air from the grow area to the rest of the garage. My only problem now is that in the summer my garage can get quite hot (maybe about 90 degrees F). The air should be well cirulated but may still be hot. Since I'm only growing a few plants with one 250 watt bulb, I'm not too worried about adding extra heat from the lamp. I'm only worried about the temperature of the garage. Will this kind of heat be a problem. Also, the garage does have a window, which I can open to help air circulate further, but I'm still worried that the air coming in could be too hot in the summer. Thanks for any help in advance.

OK ... fair question mate ... sounds to me like u got urself a good little set up and i wouldn't be worried at all, for a start cannabis is, essentially, a weed, u could yank it out the ground bare rooted and stick it in some soil in a completely different environment and it'd probably live, it would hate u and not produce good buds, but it would live lol ... anyway i'm getting off subject lol ... that temperature should be fine for almost every strain of cannabis (a lot is from very hot parts of the world anyway and other strains have been hybridised to the point where they hav almost been engineered to withstand great climate change ... the thing i'd be worried bout if i were u (well not worried coz it should be fine bt jst check out) is the humidity ... this can be about 70% RH (RH = Relative Humidity) at first bt during flowering should be kept less than 50% RH when possible, (i dn't always bother with that coz they still produce buds and everything lol, but rule of thumb: The more perfect the environment the more ur plants like u the faster they grow and the more bud they give u :)) ... anyway if u find humidity to be a problem buy a device from ur grow shop or hardware store or where ever u can find one called a Humidistat (well that's what it's called down the bottom of the world) ... What it does is detects the humidity in the area, u plug it into a power point, set the RH u want (e.g 60% RH), plug ur extractor/exhaust fan into it and it controls the fan to maintain that humidity in the room, either by turning the fan on and off as is required or by speeding up/slowing down the fan depending on how ur fan works etc ... they not the cheapest to buy bt they're not a ridiculous price either, does as gooder job as a climate control unit which can cost bout $2,500 NZD as a pose to the Humidistat which cost bout $130 NZD ... u may not need it at all tho.

Note: Cannabis like RH of bout 50 - 65% during vegetative growth and bout 40 - 50% during flowering :) Hope this helps mate ... Temp wise u'll be fine, humidity wise, u should be fine too with just an extractor/exhaust fan

Thanks man. Although, I've since scratched the garage completely and am growing in my closet. The plants are in their second week and appear to be doing great so far.

Well right now there is not much smell since the plants are not budding yet. In the next couple of weeks I'm going to get a ventilation set-up with a carbon flter to detract from the small. I just need a little bit extra cash before I can do that. Right now I just leave the closet open and it's fine.
