I was wondering if it's possible to set off a smoke detector with pot smoke. My cousin, who is a complete stone-head told me that you can't, but I don't think that's true. Every time I smoke in my new apartment I go in the bathroom, open the window, and put towles on all sides of the door... With the fan running. I'm sure the neighbors can smell it, but that's not the problem... I don't really care if they smell it, because they won't really be able to tell it's me, just someone on this floor... I just don't want the smoke detector to go off... Will it?
I believe any source of smoke causes a smoke detector (a good one anyway) to go off. My friend never wanted to smoke weed even close to one so their may have been a reason for that. From what I've heard, they detect the smoke that flows by them, not the source of it.
I dont think so. If they go off because of weed then im sure they would go off with cigarettes as well and my dad smokes all the time and they have never gone off.
There is no real difference. Smoke is smoke. Fire, cigs,pot,paper,grass, wood, it doesn't matter. Smoke is smoke. Sure, there may be chemical differences but in the end they all produce smoke. The detector doesn't care.
no i get that but then when i smoke a cigarette or when my dad does and were standing right by the smoke detector how come it doesnt go off? Ive smoked by a smoke detector that was brand new and the smoke was going right into it and it didnt go off.
Unless you blow your smoke right into it its not gonna go off...even then it probably won't the smoke isn't really that thick enough
Then you have a shit detector, go buy a good one. Seriously. I've set them off smoking years ago when I smoked. I quit 9 years ago.
