I was wondering how common it is for poeple to develop lsd induced schizophrenia. I''m aware that it is possible. Can it happen after one trip? Does schizophrenia run in the family? and are psychedelics especially dangerous for people that have schizophrenia in the family, even if they are mentally fine themselves. You hear stories of people that 'never came back from an lsd trip'
im not a psychologist, but this is my personal experience i have this friend, i knew him for a year or two before it all came down... anyways, as far as i know, there isnt any genetic insanity in his family. just about everyone i know that is related to him either does, or has tripped alot. he'd smoked alot of pot, and drank cough syrup on occasion, and tripped on mush once or twice... anyways, the first time he took acid (he only took like, 1 or 2 hits, im not exactly sure as i wasnt there that night) he had an epiphany and realized he was the second coming... he was okay for a few days, but then he just lost it a couple nights after he dosed... they had to call the ambulance and shit... after that he'd been a little weird (this all started last september or october)... but then on halloween he just completely lost it. im not going to go in depth but the worst he got to was shoving his hands in the fire because god told him the center was the coldest part of the fire... he was wearing damp gloves and we yanked him out right away so he only got a few blisters... but ever since then he's just been getting worse and worse and worse and worse... it makes me want to puke, his parents keep smoking pot with him, they even gave him a half hit of acid, AFTER i'd given them an AIM conversation i had with him where he said he was thinking about setting himself on fire. he's blatently schizophrenic, fucking TEXTBOOK, yet they are doing nothing. at first i figured it was just because they were poor, but just a few days ago they bought a big screen HDTV to watch while their schizophrenic son slowly develops more and more negative symptoms. he's becoming angry and disassociated from the world, it is IMPOSSIBLE to hold a conversation with him because his mind is so looped out... its a real bummer. however, i would have to say that this is probably a 1-in-a-million case. if anyone has had experience in dealing with a friend's insanity and their parent's disgusting apathy, i would like some help =(
damn, im sorry to hear about ur friend. but i honestly thought that drugs causing schizophrenia and wut not was just a myth. but ur right, the chances probly are 1 in a million.
i dont know if it caused it... it was probably there to begin with, it just triggered it earlier than it would've happened on its own
lol. now u got me all wacked out, im doing lsd for the first time tomorrow and iv only done shrooms once before. i am generally happy about it lol but that story put a little worry in my head. with any luck i will have forgotten about it by morning.... hopefully
dont worry about it man, if you go crazy from acid, you would've ended up going crazy anyway sometime along the line.
Well, I dont believe taking acid makes you go crazy either, well not pernamently.Acid can be the most amazing experience of your life or possibly one of the worst if you dont plan it right. However....quite a few years ago my brother was on some sort of hallucinogen which most likely was acid but nobody knows but him and maybe a couple of his old friends because he won't talk about it (I want to talk with him about that sometime but I dont really have a close relationship with him). Well anyway he was definately tripping for like 2 days, he must of done a shit load. He sat out in front of our house with a video camera video taping everyone and he made a club with nails hammered into it and hid in my parents room (with them in it) because he thought the police and swat team were outside the house. He went outside of a fazoli's fast food restaurant where he used to work and carved crosses on his chest with an ink pen(lol). My parents finally took him to the hospital and it took like 4 people to secure him and they had to tie him down and he stayed in the mental section for a while... He gets along ok in everyday life but he never has been quite the same. Personally I think that is from the antipsychotics he was given, that shit is horrible but he is pretty much fine now. But that is a great example of how things can go terribly wrong if you dont plan your trip right....ending up in a mental hospital being a zombie on antipsychotics... JUST RELAX AND TRIP IN A COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT AND YOU'LL BE FINE! Just remember there are risks that come from any drug.Don't let that scare ya away from em tho! Or your a bitch! And Yes there is a slightly greater risk for people who have a history or mental illness in there family.
Yeah, but its a worry and is always gonna be a worry until i try it for the first time. That worry might scare me into a bad trip ya see. Planning the setting is easy. But building a worry free mindset is hard. I do have a couple of schizo uncles..
like I said in the last post if you feel paranoid, depressed, or are un social or afraid of people constantly dont take LSD.
Shizophrenia is actully quite rare but acid very often causes peoples beliefs and the way they view things to change in a good or bad way.
