Has anybody here watched this movie, what did you think of it, was the acting and script any good, just curious what others views are on it?
i liked cold mountain. i never read the book and saw the movie towards the end of its run last year. i fell in love with nicole kidman in moulin rouge so wanted to see her. the movie was well acted and beautifully filmed. it gets a little hoakey (hollywood), but the story is pretty good. thank god i don't live in those days!
i thought the filmin was excellent and the selection of actors and actresses was perfect....i liked the ending because it wasn't very predictable
I did not find it to be much of a thriller, and it had the stereotypical "crazy redneck" antagonist.... This is the one with Juliette Lewis too right?
I have so many mixed feelings about this film. So many of the scenes were beautiful, vivid and powerful. So much of the dialog was simple, brutally direct and insightfully poignant. Yet everytime this director achieved a scene of brilliance, he would then proceed to undermine the experience with some totally corny dialog or scene. How can someone achieve such brilliance one instant, and complete soap-opera the next? And Renee Zelwegger(sp)? Well, she won the oscar for best supporting actress in this role. I could see why, because she obviously worked very hard to bring this interesting and powerfull character to life. But it was also so obvious that she was trying so hard, that her acting became too obvious and even distracting. Her's was not a seamless performance. And I spent alot of time nervously hoping she would pull it off. That's not how I want to spend my movie time.
It's been a couple of months, but I don't remember Juliette Lewis. However, wasn't Natalie Portman in it?
I think I'm confusing this one with a different movie, the one where Juliette Lewis is a waitress and her boyfriend is a psycho who attacks the new people that move into his familiy's estate....yea, sorry that was Cold Creek Manor.
