As someone who has endorsed (in my own little ways) the decriminalization of pot, I can say that I was busted recently for having possessed one joint in my cigarette pack. My friend and I were taken into custody for very small amounts of weed, and are now facing up to 6 months probation (or jail time--not sure, the judge spoke so fast) and tons of fines that neither of us can afford. Now, why is pot *still* illegal? For political ideological reasons to be sure. However, it's also still illegal for capitalist purposes as well. The fines we may have to pay are about $1000 each. Marijuana is still illegal because the corporate state is the beneficiary of the fines paid by those who are caught and charged with possession. To say that this "dangerous substance" (which has categorically been disclaimed) remains illegal in order to help serve the interests of public safety is naive, not to mention obsolete (in proven theory) because then tobbaco and alcohol would also be considered "dangerous narcotics" and treated as such. This law needs to be overturned through a massive public outcry. Oh wait, that's already been done...for decades now. The eradication of this law will be a barely-thought about by-product once the American Corporate Empire is toppled. It's merely a matter of time and effort on the part of the growing number who refuse to sleep-walk under the umbrella of FOX, CBS, NBC, MTV, McDonalds, and Nike.
There has been no MASSIVE public outcry. Only a few groups here and there that try and do things. We need a real, organized, nation-wide, fight back for the good of the herb. I still havnt come up with one. But it's bullshit that people have to pay fines and serve probabtion for simple shit like this. Man I wish this government would wake the fuck up.
Thats funny... It really is. There was talk a while back about legalization billboards and one said something like "4.2 million imprisioned costs you 4.6 million" Those fines really pay for it all... heh. No pot is illegal because of racism and now because of tradition. We cant break the cycle, it wont happen, not in our lifetime. MTV Apathy Baby
Well, I know one thing for sure ... overgrow.com is holding a massive, official worldwide pot spreading campaign this year on April 20th. The point is, you save all of your seeds, and plant them EVERYWHERE, in the forests, in the gardens, in the public tree planter patches, EVERYWHERE. I'm going to be doing that, hardcore.
OMG! That is the goal in our lives?!? We are stoners, ment to spread the plant, maybe if we all do it, it will make a difference, I know Im gonna think bout doing that.
I feel sorry for you being arrested man, that really sucks by the way, why was the officer going through your cig pack?? i mean if he didn't have probable cause then he can't do shit... (i think) And it won't be legal... trust me. BUT you can always move to jamica or amsterdamn or Nepal or something.... Good luck.
stoners are to laid back to go riot in streets and protest and take time to speak in washington or maybe a micheal moore type film about legalizeing or having a good speaker what does it have to do with racism? prolly will be illlegal till then
some stoners are too laid back, but that's a generalization. It's more MTV and Starbucks that makes people lazy, but pot can do it too if it becomes the sole reason for living, and believe me Weedman, there are other goals that are far more important than weed.
As it stands, the US, just like everybody else, signed away the right to legalize weed. Google "UN Single Convention on Narcotics". And sign this: http://www.ethical-business.com/?sect=detail&pet=201
Wait, what's the difference? Aren't those basically the same thing, seeing as how the corporations own the government, more or less? Yeah, it sucks you got nailed. My manager at work got busted a few years ago and had 2000 in fines, plus probation. So, it could have been worse, but I guess that's no consolation to you... Question: If the US can disregard the UN in attacking Iraq, can't we disregard them in legalizing weed? I mean, we pretty much just proved the UN to be weak and ineffective. What would they do, invade us? Sanction us? I mean, seriously, they wouldn't do shit to us because we're the USA.
You think thats a small anmount to be busted for, try and baggie that smells like weed. thats right last february i was arrested for having a baggie that smelled like weed and had "residue" on it. :$
