What do you think about communes? It's my dream to build commune where people could live like they want we would grow are own food and be free.
    But what do you say?

    I say it sounds great.
    Just two questions:
    1) When can I move in?
    2) What's the catch?

to build a commune could be an amazing idea. but nowadays it's an abstract concept for common people cause it means FREEDOM and they are afraid about it. it doesn't mean that we all together can change this thought and contribute to demonstrate that we can live the same with the essential things! :)
(as in the film "la belle verte" by Coline Serrau)

Getting a commune together is not as easy as just getting a place for the commune to be. Is this commune going to have a goal, like living substainabley? Are there going to be rules concerning alcohol & drugs? What about defining 'living free'...some people might think that living free means sitting around doing things for one's self while other do the work which keeps the community going. Please study into the subject because more communes fail than survive but with good structure & planning a commune can exist successfully

I think communes can work well , but as the previous poster said, rules have to be laid down and the whole community has to work together as a family. Sefl suffiency can work and money can be made from it by selling produce and craft work. I would love to give communal living a try , but not so sure my husband would take to it as he likes his luxury goods and latest technology. If it meant living without the internet, I don't know if I could do that.

I think we would not take junkies. Cause someday they get helth problems and they start fighting for the drugs and i get blamed by police. And we could have some sort of system that work is shared to evryone. The goal would be hapiness and harmony.

When put like that, global society should be the commune, and earth, should be her camp ground.
