My life has gone all to hell here in the USA...many reasons make the USA unbearably depressing to me and I've decided that while im still alive I might as well move out of the country all together. Im thinking of moving to Amsterdam (not just for the coffeshops). Looks a definetly beautiful place. Im just wondering the basic suggestions of anyone thats lives(d) there what kinda of an idea this is. Like good or bad idea or what?

Im 20 years old and have absolutely nothing here. Is this like some awful idea to try and save my money for 6 months and move to Amsterdam? Would I be able to get a job and start my life from there? any advice or info helps. :)

To be real, it's really not a "should I" situation. It's more of a "can I" situation and the chance of you actually pulling off a move to Amsterdam from the states is very low. It's extremely hard these days for any US resident to move overseas without a reason or enough money. There's always those red lit windows though lol. Right now work visas are extremely hard to come by for American citizens. That's thanks to the EU. Bright side, Amsterdam is liberal and there are ways to work around things, and theres always under the table work. If you're good looking (sorry to be shallow) it probably wouldnt be hard to get a job in a coffeeshop that has a lot of traffic.

In the end, your life may be bad right now, but moving to Amsterdam won't solve your problems.

My 7 week marathon in Amsterdam starts this coming Monday, can't fuckin wait!

    Skinner,

I'll be there early October. I'm going to Amsterdam (2nd time), and then Ireland and Scotland. Maybe some other places as well... :)

Maybe we could meet for a smoke and/or some beers in the 'Dam..?
