can trees communicate physically? it's not that ludicrous of a question....crickets rub their feet together, snakes hiss, and perhaps trees can slowly control the positioning of their leaves-enough to change sound of the wind as it passes through. considering the tree's lifespan, it would make sense that any sentient action it would take would be extremely slow. these actions could take weeks, months, years, etc, and would go unnoticed by most. who knows what kind of knowledge is to be found in the wind as it passes through the leaves of an ancient redwood...... man, that was pretty fun to think about.
Everything communicates If you've done LSD, Shrooms, Peyote, Salvia, etc... than you'll know exactly what I mean
i've definitely experienced subtle communication from plants while under the influence. that seemed to be of a more psychic nature, and was experienced under a state i didn't achieve on my own. before i wrote that, i was sober and listening to the wind pass through the trees. i realized that it was making a complex sound similar to the simple complexity of a cricket or bird. the thought of a tree communicating in that way intrigues the hell outta me. it also seems to make perfect sense, though that specific thought had never occurred to me.
Well i DONT do drugs yet i still feel things from plants, so explain that Plants and trees are alive. Its that simple Communicate physically i dont know about...i mean they grow, thats physical movement but hardly communication...but in more subtle ways id say yes
You don't need drugs to be delusional. They can't communicate because they don't have a brain to think.
this is one of those ideas that are pointless to argue about. there are certain ideas you would have to be inclined towards for that to even be possible-the idea that massive amounts of information can be contained in light, that perhaps there are more shades of awareness than the one we perceive, etc. anyways, the point is that i don't agree with you and i feel that your way of viewing the world is dull and limited. thanks for your comments.
Ooh, of course...a nice tangible holdable brain, something we can see in our heads and make diagrams of and say "this is the cause of...."...silly me Anyway the OP is right and its not wroth arguing, it takes a certain receptiveness and open-mindedness i guess, or perhaps youre right, who knows
The lifeforce is the same in all things, but not all things have a "brain". This commonality is where the communication takes place. Nature "sings" to me. Especially when rain is coming. x
this depends a lot on how you define communication, but trees and other forms of vegitation communicate with more animate life forms, including ourselves, all the time, by smell primarily. =^= .../\...
well its a bit complex, like most things in nature are. but they tell ourselves and many other creatures other then ourselves many things about their current condition by olfactory 'messages'. one of the more obvious is when fruit are ripe, or when flowers are ready to be polinated. but that's almost like their 'baby talk' it really gets a lot more subtle then that. but it's not like there's a central nervous system doing the 'talking'. if there are spirits too, that is a seperate and far more speculative issue. i'm just talking about what is tangable and materially observable and measurable. =^^= .../\...
first of all, science is a system of discovery. i'm sure you've noticed that most major discoveries were looked at by many as ludicrous-even claimed to be in opposition to science. this is because the understanding of the people claiming this opposition was limited by the dogma of the times. a true scientist keeps an open mind and doesn't claim to know anything absolutely.
Just as with humans, there is more to the tree than mere biology. Biology can never explain "life" itself. x
i would not even begin to disagree with that. what i would and do disagree with is claiming to know what we do not. i see nothing wrong with letting science be science and letting mystery be mystery after all, it doesn't take a whole lot of rocket science, or at least i hope it don't, to realize that everything we know, even all of us togather, even all of everything that has any capacity to know anything, on any and ever world and any other condition there might be, will never equal all that there is TO know. and i'm not denying the gratifiction of playing in our minds with things we don't know either, only the honesty of claiming in any tangable objective sense, to know them. =^^= .../\...
I guess this CAN be done (although i admit, im not very good at it, as in my vision they are inextricably linked, its difficult to pull things apart) But i think the posters point was it cant explain everything, or not even near everything...as you said, that which we dont know is so much greater than what we can see now...but the cynical poster seemed to believe lack of a "brain" was total evidence that a tree is unable to communicate...so i think it really was necessary to raise issue of the "mystery" to him I really wish these "mysteries" COULD be discssed in a scientific matter, and the metaphyscis could begin being linked with the physics, and peoples hearts to their minds and spiritual ideas to what can be seen without it resulting in people fighting like angry toddlers and throwing religious shit at eachother, or laughing eachother off. Unfortunately it seems in this world it cant, so perhaps youre right, and a seperation is worth a little something
How's this for communication? I may have a few details wrong cuz it's been yrs since I read the stuff, and I am too tired to research it myself. Start with Googling Lie Detecor test and plants, and read it for yourself. There was a guy who was a Lie Detector expert by trade, I think his name may have been Baxter, but not sure on that either. One day for shits and giggles, he decided to hook his testing equipment up to plants to see if they would react to certain stimuli. Upon hooking the plants up, he was going to burn one of them to monitor the reaction. To his surprise, the plants reacted to the very thought of burning one of them. They also reacted to stimulating a plant in another room, that was not in the same area as the plants that were being tested. Later another researcher decided to expand on this testing, and found that trees in a forest physically react to a lumberjack walking into the forest with his chainsaw, and that they actually physically withdraw and pull up as he does. Conversely when a peaceful person who has love for the trees walked in, they actually relaxed and reacted in a totally different way to the character of the person walking into the forest, much akin to the trees in a DIsney cartoon! So like I said, I did not research this, but just told the story off the top of my head, so if I am wrong on this or that point, please don't harass me over it, but go reasearch it yourself if you want all the facts. But in a nutshell, yes I think they do indeed comunicate and interact, at least on a spiritual or energy type level. Peace.... OK, so here's alink that I found with the key words above http://websearch.cs.com/wm/boomframe.jsp?query=Lie+detectors+and+plants&page=1&offset=0&result_url=redir%3Fsrc%3Dwebsearch%26requestId%3D8accddeca67938f1%26clickedItemRank%3D1%26userQuery%3DLie%2Bdetectors%2Band%2Bplants%26clickedItemURN%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fskepdic.com%252Fplants.html%26invocationType%3D-%26fromPage%3DWMTRoll%26amp%3BampTest%3D1&remove_url=http%3A%2F%2Fskepdic.com%2Fplants.html
