I've never done a yard sale but I've done a few Car Boot Fairs. You basically pay for your pitch (you can omit that part if selling in you yard!), set up a long table ( a pasting table is the usual one) and lay out all your stuff on it. Don't put anything heavy in the middle of a folding table as it will most likely collapse!

Don't put prices on things, let people ask you how much you want for them, also keep a cash float of about $20 (usually £10 in my case) so you can give people change. Take plastic bags so people can easily carry their purchases.
It's also a good idea to have at least one other person with you so people don't steal your stuff.

Advertise in local papers, shop windows and street lamp poles so people will know it's happening.

sell water and soda. That's where the $$ is, the rest is an excuse to purge junk.

aw if i lived near you i'd come.

    i love yard sales.
a couple of my old neighbors had them last year and they got rid of alot of cool items from the '60s and '70s and a bunch of vintage jewlery that could've been sold for alot more then their asking price.

Why don't you just do the e-bay thing?

Anything can be sold on e-bay. Anything.

I can't deny that is a good idea, I sell quite alot there too. Often I make things to sell rather than just old junk.

Naa, I never much liked Ebay. You can't go to a garage sale and buy one thing, so if someone comes to buy, i don't know, a shirt, their gonna end up picking up more stuff
