If the British army had stayed the course in the American colonies and defeated the terrorist George Washington, the world would be a better place.
Haveing read a little about the early days of the Colonies I reckon if the British had stayed in charge the world would be a far worse place.
We defeated you fog breathers fair and square. The strong hit the high seas in search of something more, the weak and content stayed behind. Then they try to come over here once we set the foundation of civilization? Give me a break. It wasn't even a valiant effort on your part. If you are going to try to take something that isn't yours at least come prepared. Like we did, with beads.
Plonka... what a bad insult. It is kinda like wonka and thats just ridiculus, your ridiculus. You proved your intelligence by not being able to come up with some kind of rebuttal... I expected more. Some harsh comments in the first post, don't know why someone would feel this way. I live in the US and think it is a great place, with beautiful lands and kind people. Was in London once for a day and felt the same way about it.
I'm hoping you're being sarcastic. Do you know where the foundation of civilisation was actually created? IRAQ,IRAN, & PAKISTAN. Or rather, Mesopotamia and the Indo-Iranians along the Indus valley. Go look it up. Here's some stuff: Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesopotamia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indus_Civilisation Others: http://archnet.org/forum/view.jsp?message_id=12053 http://www.h-net.org/~museum/iraq.html http://arts.guardian.co.uk/features/story/0,,927788,00.html
i think he was being deliberately shitty in retort to the incredibly stupid first post and i decided sarcasm was the core of the whole post.
If only the world drank more tea it would be a more civilised place. There's a clear correlation, nay, causal relationship between the amount of tea a nation drinks and its standing in the world. At the height of the British Empire we were trading tea all over the globe. Now the two chief tea exporting countries, India and China are the ascendant powers. The reason America is in an interminable decline, the reason why it's running debts in the trillions, the reason why it can't win in Iraq and the reason why, like the Liverpudlians, they elected a monkey, is its naive preoccupation with coffee. Come on guys, wake up and smell the tea....
I remember when I was in junior school we were indeed taught that civilisation started in Mesopotamia. I wonder if they're still allowed to say that?
Oh dear. It was meant as a joke. See, the way humour works is that you set up an expectation and then subvert it. So, the title "our troops should have stuck it out" leads you to expect a gung-ho post saying we shouldn't have withdrawn from Basra but should have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our gallant US allies. Then, the body of the post turns out to be diametrically opposite, referring to a 240-year old conflict in which we were opposed to those gallant colonialists. Anyway, I should have learned long ago it's a mug's game trying to make jokes on Internet message boards: firstly the medium itself is too unsubtle and secondly there are too many morons out there. This time I really do give up.
Fine joke Roffa... My reply was also in a jokingly manner. Still thats how i feel bout you limy bastards. I kid. Or maybe not. Hitler feared the United States in WWII becasue he felt the weak stayed behind. Home of the free and the brave... shit I am just too much of a patriot. ha
