If you could create your own movie, what would it be? what genre, who would you have as the main character. Storyline? Camera angles, setting location?
Have a script you would like to share?

I have this awesome idea. I do spoof films with friends, and early in the year we tried to do a serious one. I was supposed to be writing it, but then it was decided to scrap it and do another spoof. It's a bloody shame, because I had some fantastic ideas. I'm trying to write it in book form at the moment, and I have plans to pay a comic book artist an obscene amount of money to draw it. It's loosely influenced by film noir (I've not watched enough of 'em to say they play a direct influence, though I think I can still draw similarities). It's certainly heavily influenced by Transmetropolitan...a dystopian future set in a fucking huge city. At one point I wanted one of the characters to have a pair of Spider Jerusalem-esque shades, but I think that might be a bit too fanboy.

It's centred in a neo-noir city called New Constantinople. Why? I dunno, I just like the name..it was one of the space stations in Wing Commander Privateer. The place was originally going to be left unnamed and just referred to as a place in the present day UK, but there are so many ways it wouldn't fit. We never actually learn where New Constantinople is, by the way, all we know is it's this big fucking city where rich people live like kings and poor people are crammed into highrise apartments. Or something.

A private detective is hired by someone to steal a newly-uncovered artifact from a local archaeologist/collector. But when the archaeologist ends up dead and the private eye's own demise is prevented only by a shadowy stranger who knows more about the artifact than anyone does about him, the protagonist is forced into helping to steal the artifact back from the mysterious Order of Ares.

As odd and cliched as it sounds, it's really fucking good, I swear. I just need to get it written. I guess not writing serious fiction for a decade kind of slows down the process.

Anyway, that's what I'd do a movie of. As for style...I had this fucking great idea (do I swear too much? [IMG]) and even tried to do it myself, but I'm really too busy at the moment and it'd take years to complete. You heard of a game called Hotel Dusk, for the Nintendo DS?

Basically, taking the character animation style from that and applying it to everything...almost everything in pencil...including backgrounds and stuff, if that's possible. Black and white (only using pencil means it'd have to be)...I like the way the animation isn't perfect, there's a lot of skipped frames, it gives it a "rough around the edges" feel. Real voice actors of course, no subtitles. Music based off this intro:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HxZKa4NwGo

Crap, I can't find a full version of it. Before Bruce's harmonica bit, Clarence Clemons does this saxophone solo bit. If you have p2p, look for the Live In New York City version of The River...11 minutes 45 seconds long. Find it if you're interested, and listen to the first three minutes. That is what New Constantinople sounds like on a night. And since it's the middle of winter, it's practically always night, and usually a fair amount of drizzle. Not to mention that the pencil animation will make it seem dark and somewhat unsettling during the daytime too anyway. That's exactly the fel I'm going for...you can't see anything wrong with it really, but there's always a feeling that someone's watching from a window, or there's somebody waiting down a back alley for you.

Some day I'm going to write it. Some day.

Never heard the music, but I can guess, given what I know of film noir. Blues music, but just a little bit raunchy, right?

My movie? Two friends set out on a hitchhiking quest for inner peac.. oh wait, that was Dharma Bums. Ah well i got nothing then.

I'd say more sad, downtrodden than raunchy. I get what you mean, though. Like I say, it's not really film noir, it's more like my interpretation of film noir after seeing about one movie when I was a kid, then reading about it in film studies...then setting it in the future. [IMG]

My friend who was going to co-write it described it more as a gangster film, but I never thought that described it well. Yes it's about two rival groups, but they date back to BC...and most traces of the first group disappeared way back then. Can it be gangster when it's not really about gangs? [IMG]

If I did a short movie it would be set in Morden Wharf (greenwich peninsula) and it would be about some guys who decided as a group to live off the grid and become nomads of London. By night they would sit around a fire and talk about their lives. Each part would be a different vision of each. The best being first and the saddest being the last. Music would be by U2 and Queen.

I had a movie idea a few years ago about what if you discovered a stash of cannabis on a beach in Spain. What would you do? Would you report it? Take it? Smoke it? Sell it? - anyway I thought I'd try and smuggle it back to the U.K, sell most of it and make a small fortune. I thought this would make a great film. A road movie.
Anyhow, for me film was far too expensive and I've seen friends struggling trying to make their own film ideas so that was out. I can't write particularly well, so for me that was out. But then I can draw well, so I began doing it as a strip and eventually got there. My strip is now at www.smugglingvacation.co.uk and it tells the story I originally had. It's took ages to do but I've enjoyed it and found it worthwhile. [IMG]
    Anyway that's my movie.

Hmmmm my movie. Well I've already made a script for a manga with my brother (which didnt work thanks to someone *points at friend* who just didnt draw it... So we cant do much with it now bt I wanna make it into a book. Soon as i find the script...

The story was about Mikey AKA Random Kid (RK for short) it was a comedy and yeah... Mostly real life stuff that happened to ol' Miko... (haha i called him Miko) but we showed it to a few (well alot of) people and they found it funny so... I think it was pretty good. And seeing its already a script i think we should make it :D

I am gonna ask them now... Thanks for that :)

My film would be deep and meaningful without looking like a manic depressives media project, and wouldnt feature guns or unnecessary violence, and not everyone would have an American accent and i wouldnt cast people just because the media hype has made them "sexy"
Itd probably have what would be seen as a cheesy title
And it would have a romance story but it wouldnt be of the shallow American chick flick type

Other than that, i have no idea

Hehe not annoyed at "Americans", i aint racist or whatever the term would be! Its just the majority of films we see are made in America with an all American cast with their accents and, well, its refreshing when something different but still watchable comes out:)

I just spent two days making a film with friends, it's sort of a zombie ghost story with a vicar who doesn't believe in god, it features guns and unnecessary violence:D
