Hi everybody. I just found this site yesterday, and it's pretty exciting. I'm way too old to have been born with the "computer gene"--my grandkids have been whipping around on a keyboard since they were two--so I'd appreciate some guidance for getting myself around here. Some questions: How do you modify a profile to show age, location, etc.? When is a thread considered dead? For instance, if nobody's posted on a thread in a couple of months or so, should I leave it alone and start a new one or is it okay to respond? What's the deal with "member groups"--is it bad manners to try to join a group right away? No doubt I'll have more questions soon, but I'd appreciate help with these for now. I was lucky enough to have attended the first "love in" in LA's Elysian Park in 1967. The Grateful Dead played, and I remember we were talking about what a brilliant name they had. I missed the Woodstock Festival (had a newborn to care for) but later wound up living in Woodstock, NY for many moons. It's been a great life, and I'm hoping it will continue for a while longer...I'm also hoping to meet some kind and interesting folks around these parts. I'll bet I already know some of you though. Thanks much in advance for a friendly welcome.
Well Hello fellow Baltimorian Welcome Aboard, I'm sure you'll have loads of wonderous adventures here.....

I've tried this link several times and get nothing. Don't know if that's because the chatroom is empty or because I'm a newbe or what. (I'm still finding this site a challenge to navigate.) Thanks anyway--it sounds fun.
answering your questions.... you can modify your profile under User Options above, read the sticky under "Introduce Yourself" for drumminmama's rap on posting and there are other similar posts other places too, if you have an interest and want to join a group my thoughts are go for it, of course you can always ask someone in the group. :computer: peace and welcome to hipforums.
