I wish I'd had had to read it in school. I would love having a conversation about that book, it is so wonderful! I love the quote: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others". I'd have to say that is my favorite quote of all time.
Animal Farm is a great book, but 1984 is by far Orwell's masterpiece, you should check that out next if you haven't read it yet
What is "Be Here Now" about? I remember hearing about it, but I have completely forgot. And who wrote it? That way, it'll be conveniant when I go to find it at a Book Store. I've been meaning to go out and get it for some time now, mainly because I have heard SO MANY people speaking of it
Its by Ram Dass The core part of it isn't really "about" Its more of an experience The rest is about lifestyle and a biography of sorts Its a really really awsome book
Anything tolkien has always been great. I love military history and have a ton of books on the topic. I also love philosophy especially nietzsche My favorite book of all time is: Thus Spake Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche If you ever need to get motivated just read it.
reading sucks wait for the movie to come out, lol. I read too slowly (at a high level, but slow) so i don't read much at all, but I like B&B Theone's books.
To many to say, The hobbit is good and reminds me of when I was younger. I love 1984, it's an amazing book. The Stranger by Camus was another grate one. Lord of the flies, Walden, the tao te ching. I really don't have a favorite, theres to many I like for different reasons.
Damn, people here have some great taste. Ender's Game (and all the sequels and the Bean spin-off) and His Dark Materials (absolutely fucking love it) have already been mentioned. I discovered a few favorites in AP English last year - Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five and Rudolfo Anaya's Bless Me, Ultima were brilliant Frank Herbert's Dune has a VERY high spot, and right now I'm reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series, which is awesome
I really enjoyed Ender's Game, never read Shadow... Jean Auel's Earths Children Series (prehistoric people, awesome story, great naughty bits) Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series (politics, intrigue, betrayal, love, and naughty bits) Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series (Fantastic. action/ adventure with human issues and just a touch of fantasy, but only a touch) I enjoyed the Harry Potter Series , but its an easy/ light read to break up the others and Poetry compilation books. we have a lot of "aquired" textbooks, children's stories and fables and stuff. my favorite of THose is "Come Hither" by Walter de la Mare (third revision in 1963) I love old poetry books! Yay!
oh, and books read in school too! Scarlet Letter, Night by Elie Weisel (gave me weird dreams), Number the Stars, Lord of the Flies (of course!) Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn... ow, headache.....
