Hello everybody. My Rising sign is a Libra. My Moon is also Libra, and my Sun sign is Virgo. I have read extensively on the effects of a Libra Rising sign, and all sources say the exact same thing: That Libra Rising is a weak influence and most likely makes no impact in a birthchart. No matter how much I try to pick this apart and prod beneath it, I simply cannot find an underlying meaning. My question, in conclusion, is what exactly are the effects on a Libra Rising sign? What does it cause in relation so my sun sign? Also, Libra's ruling planet, Venus, happens to be in Libra as it rises in my birthchart. Is this something I should take special concern to? Thank you, anybody and everybody willing to answer my questions or take the time to read this thread. May you all have a wonderful day.
Hi, by my belief and theory Jesus was Libra rising. The best books I know on this subject are Sakoian and Ackers' "Astrologers Handbook", Grant Lewi's "Heaven Kows What" for it's insight on the Sun-Moon combos. in abirth chart and Dane Rudhyars " an astrological Mandalla, the Sabian Symbols, and pay particular attention to the chapter "The Cross and the Star' fot its explanation of the chart axis and how the particular degree of Libra that your ascendent is in is the "WHAT" of your being the opposite degree of the Zodiacis the "WHERE-TO" of your being and the Nadir and Mid-Haven represent "HOW" and "WHY" this is to be acheived. Here's what "Astrologers Handbook" has to say about Libra on the first house cusp: "Libra's project their individuality through cooperation with other people; their personalities must be focused on and mirrored in those with whom they cooperate. Their actions express beauty and grace, along with discipline, sternness, and a strong sense of justice. Their strongest virtue is their ability to see any matter from the viewpoint of the people with whom they are dealing. Libra's do not like to be alone; they feel lost when they are forced to rely entirely on themselves." I hope this has been of assitance. Sincerely, piercethevale.
In traditional astrology, the RISING sign, and the planet that rules it, are usually the most influential elements of a chart. In fact in traditional, almost all questions in a chart are centered around the planet that rules your rising sign - not your Sun sign. Sun signs weren't used at all in personality. It was this way in astrology and every book on astrology (and I have about 15 or 20 books from before the 18th century) until the shift to psychological astrology in the 1800s. This is really all astrology seems to be today for most people. In the old days it was a tool for predictions which is what I think people really want - not some middle-aged shut-in to tell you how you feel. You know that already. The whole notion of Sun sign representing you and the rising sign representing how others see you is modern and I don't even see why that kind of change had to be made. I don't use Sun signs at all except to find how powerful or weak the Sun is. In your case, Libra is what you need to look at as well as see the sign, the degrees in the sign, and the house Venus is in. Also, you want to see what kind of aspects it has. See if any planets are in the 1st house. That will tell you more than any info on Sun sign. This isn't even counting the almuten which is the most powerful planet in your chart. It may or may not be your ruling planet.
