Yeah, you need a "permit" now to protest in NYC.

its illegal to protest near parliment in the uk too, really it does not matter what your views on 9/11 are people should be able to protest .

we had people die for the right to protest in our historys and they should not take that right away

You can still protest but you have to do it out in the middle of nowhere where no one can see it or inside a cage.

How rich we are spending billions taking democracy to the middle east but we are wiping it out at home.

Yep, normally you need a permit to do some something that would otherwise be illegal. makes you wonder when they made the 1st amendment illegal...

the US is not exporting democracy! saddam was our 'friend' during the worst of his atrocities in the 80s under Reagan and Bush1. if you look at the history of foreign policy over the last 100 years and especially since WW2 you'll see it's simply a global conquest for the corporations that are actually pulling the strings. i recommend to everyone the book "Hegemony or Survival" by Noam Chomsky. it's a real eye-opener.

I'd say something but there's nothing that can be added to this.

That in and of itself is unconstitutional. It puts authority figures in a position to deny you the permit, therefore denying you a constitution-protected right. And aside from that, having to get permission, whether they abuse the power to grant/deny or not, is also a direct violation of our rights.
