Note: If anyone has already tried this please tell me what results you had. So anyway I've always germinated seeds in soil in a hot water cupboard then put them under a fluro for the first week of their lives then proceeded to put them under 400W HPS ... However, I noticed that the plants always look stretched after been under the fluro (skinny and tall) ... I began to wonder if this was normal or caused by a lack of light ... so the experiment i'm doing is to put sum seedling under the fluro first and sum straight under the 400W HPS (with it a fair distance away from them of course lol) ... I'm interested to see if they stretch more or lease under the greater light sourse and warmth (i have a 9,000 lumens per sqaure foot set-up at the moment) ... I'll keep this thread up to date with the results i get, if anyone has done sumthing like this and can tell me if they found it benificial or the reverse of it then please tell me! thanks "EXPERIMENTATION IS THE ONLY PATH TO IMPROVEMENT (Like when the people of Holland decided to try the extremely successful 'SOG' [Sea Of Green] technique")
how many floros? CFL or tube? Whats the color temperature? HPS is better for flowering, not vegging. Metal Halide or more Floros is best for veg.
Standard tube floro from my grow shop ... dnt no much bout it as i only use it for bout a week at a time for cuttings and seedlings and it works algud, i jst wonder if the 400W will b more effective ... Yea MH are better fro vege growth bt i hav my nxt SOG crop vegging while my current crop is flowering and i can't hav them growing too big too fast or i can't harvest every 45 - 60 days coz they get too big to fit in the space otherwise lol ... I'm considering using the 400W jst for flowering and having a 200-300W HPS for veging so they won't get too big in the 8 or so weeks im budding my others lol - so far the seedlings under the 400W are more compact bt seen as they're seeds this could b genetic differences, especially seen as they r currently too young to tell if they're Indica or Sativa (they jst wittle bubies lol)
I think you're missing my point.. HPS is the wrong color spectrum to provide "good" growth. It will work, sure, but its not optimal. Metal halides are best for Vegging. If you want ot use CFL, then find one thats 2700K for flowering, and 6400K for vegging. You'll need quite a few
yea i was thinking bout that 2day ... i've always used HPS coz its average 4 veging and gud 4 flowering bt if i am gunna get a new light 4 my new set up specifically for vege growth then i may as well get a MH coz as u said its got the more white/blue light spectrum. and no way am i gunna waste my time with 100 CFLs lol jokes, bt na waste of time using them if u ask me ... algud for the lil fellas tho ... only small problem is they'll b gtn 9000 lumens per square foot during flowering and only 5000 lumens per sqft during vegging ... should b algud tho, still b healthy jst grow a lil slower which is really the solution i'm looking for
