So anyway doing the SOG grow technique who thinks it would be better to use 9 18L pots or 16 10L pots??? remember the plants dnt really needa grow bigger than a foot or foot and a half (30 - 45 cm) ... They'll be under 250W MH for vegging and a 400W HPS for a week or 2 of vegging and the flowering period.

well ive never done a sog as such , but i normally go for 4 plants on a 4 week turn around, take cuttings just b4 put in to flower after 4 weeks, then veg for 4 weeks then take cuttings and so on

back to your question though, i only use 4 ltr pots (8") to try and keep the size down, still average 6 - 8 oz per grow.every 4 weeks.

    hope this helps

i'd suggest the 9 18L pots. Fewer plants i.e. less maintenance, plus you'll have a bit "happier" plants, they'll love ya for a little extra root room.

i usually top them after around the 4th node so they stay quite short,i try to keep them no taller than 2 foot, not that hight is an issue in my grow, but it makes them easier to manage.

OK, after thinking about it for abit and deciding to convert the L into gallons as i live in US. 18L, IMO, is an overkill for indoor plants. 10L would be about perfect. Depending on how much experience you have, i guess 16 10L would be more practical. Although your going to be busting your ass come watering time. If you don't have much experience i would say still use the 10L pots but only do like 10 plants at the most. It does take alot of work per plant, especially when doing a soil grow.

Are we talking about clones or from seed?

    ^^good question.

If your planning on doing a SOG it would be best to grow out a mother plant and take the clones you need. SOG from seed is hard, the plants grow at different rates and its just hard to keep an even canopy.

yep, i do the same way. Find a good one, take cuttings, take cuttings from the cuttings, and so on and so forth. Works great, you clone a clone quite a few times without losing much vigor.
