This forum is a result of the popularity of the "Ask the Old Hippie" column on Hippy.com. We still get questions every day for him. So now people can ask questions of all the Old Hippies on the HipForums via this new forum.

    Have fun! :)

    Dear old hippie,
I'm 16 and a junior in high school and my counselor to my parents to some of my friends are asking what are you gonna do when u get out of high school. I think to myself on what to do, i wanna go to college but what to study!? I know i want to be able to make enough money to support a family but where to get it when it seems with almost every job you get is filled with cutthroat business men and women. So what is one to do in a world of corruption.

NJS-What do you like to do? What are your strengths and weakness's?-In school' pick courses that will challenge you and learn a skill or trade that can make you a living.

A good blend is to have a serious money making side as well as keeping your artistic side alive and flowing. We all have artistic talent in one form or another.Music' art 'poetry all are needed to keep your artsy side of your brain happy.

Even though you are right about there being alot of crooks and thieves in the world' there are still more good people than bad and once you have the education and know how' you will be able to pick and choose who you work for as you get older. We have all had to work for nasty' liars at times but once we could we moved on to better jobs with better people.

Keep a positive outlook and don't ever comproimise your principals . Stay honest to yourself and those around you and you will do fine out there. Honesty takes you everywhere whereas liars are limited to a small area and as they continue to decieve people' that area grows smaller. Your future is as good as you
    make it

Stay clean; away from hard drugs and alcohol and find out what you would like to do for the rest of your life. It will change probably many times but it's a good time to see whats out there. Talk to employment counslers and see what you need to do as far as education to get a good job. Good luck-.
