Here are some pictures of my 4 week old "dreads". I'm not sure if they're doing alright, they don't look much like dreads but they are staying together for the most part. Do you guys think I should do them over or just leave them alone? I don't want to look like crap for too much longer.
did you curl those? anyway, thier going to look like crap for like the first 4 months. maybe longer. i would just either undo those and backcomb, or undo those and then just go natural. btw, awesome peircings
They were originally backcombed and a little bit of wax was used, I have since washed them once, but they just look like straight hair stuck together in little curls...I think i'll just take them out, should I go the natural way or have them backcombed? How long would each way take? Thanks btw
the reason they look like straight hair stuck together is because you probably twisted alot. and the wax just holds the hair together which prevents knots. wax is horrible for your dreads. just take em out and backcomb. and then leave them alone
Thanks Adrien, I took them out today. For the first couple of weeks I always palm rolled them to stay together... guess it wasn't the smartest thing to do. I should get them re-backcombed sometime this week. More pictures on the way.
yeah palmrolling isn't bad. but the wax just holds the hairs together to resemble dreads. they acually need to knot to become dreads. so palmroll away if you want, just don't wax
I would have kept them, just to see what they would do, but some of the hair was knotted at the roots almost like a braid. I didn't like this, so I think its better this way, plus no wax anymore
