Ok. Ive been smoking weed for over a year and a half, Its fun, but i always noticed that my high lasted longer than everyone else. But lately I have seriously been trippin out on weed. Like after 3 hits from a small peice I freak out and have close to Acid like effects.. For you out there that have experienced with salvia, the feeling i get is like 45 seconds after you take the hit of salvia, right when it kicks in. You know, when somethings wrong but you cant quite grasp it. The scary part is, there is a history of schizophrenia in my family: My aunt and Grandma had it. So at this point i am freaking out. ALTHOUGH Its only weed that does this to me, I have done MDMA, Salvia, I drink etc. And so far i only get these feelings from weed???? If anyone else relates to this please help!!!!
That sounds like anxiety. Try taking a break or changing the environment you smoke it. Possibly, addressing anxieties that exist when your not high will effect the way you feel when you are high. As for the history of schizophrenia, if it's in your genes and your destined to get it at some point either from genetics or environmental influence, smoking won't change that much. Just keep an eye on how you feel, make observations about changes and stuff like that if you really really feel your at risk.
Thank you Stella. That may help, my guess is its just anxiety/paranoia. Also, I enjoyed your quote under the pic. That might be the best answer :]
everyone reacts differently to every drug, and THC and other cannabinoids are unlike almost every other known psychoactive drugs in a lot of ways. it is not unusual for cannabis to produce consistantly and significantly different effects in some people than others. i have an ex girlfriend who would do coke, ecstacy, opiates (with a particular fondness for morphine), acid, mushrooms, and so on but wouldnt smoke pot because it made her "trip" in a way she really didnt like. she found it particularly unpleasant and unsettling, though she could handle many other "hard" drugs very well. some people just get different effects than most people do with the same weed. some people just don't like or handle it well. its not for everybody despite what many people here may say. if it brings on effects you do not enjoy more often than you find it enjoyable, then you ought to quit smoking altogether or at least take a long term break. as for long-term mental consequences, i know of no reliable research wich may indicate marijuana is directly responsible for the onset of any mental conditions of any sort.
Thank you guys. Your info helped I feel a lot more comfortable now. I am really interested in Mushrooms, DMT and other psychedelics, and want to experience them soon, and now i feel I can take them with confience Thanks
I don't know about marijuana, but I'd suggest that if you have a family history of schizophrenia you should stay off anything stronger. A friend of mine has a family history of it, and he himself developed bipolar disorder. This might have happened anyway, but it wasn't helped by the numerous times he tripped and he said when he was tripping it made his disorder worse. He was fine with marijuana, though. Everyone's different, though. But to be honest I would really strongly recommend against it.
Sounds like an imbalance of chemicals in your brain, most likely influenced by the potency of the bud you're smoking. THC and CBD's are probably screwing with you.
its true, and i neglected to mention in my previous post that its a bad idea to take psychedelics in particular if there is a family history of serious psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia. while there is research suggestive of the idea that if properly used psychedelics can be an effective tool for treating many mental conditions when used with therapy, there is also a lot of research which seems to indicate using psychedelics and other drugs can cause an early onset of mental illness in people very likely to develop them anyways. the sad fact is that mental illness often runs in a family, and while nobody is flat out destined to develop a condition just because their family members have, it is unwise to use psychedelic drugs if you are at risk.
Well, my mom has actualled told me she has done shrooms a few times, and has tried LSD once (it took a few wine glasses before she told me). And her sister was schizophrenic and her mother had a mild version of it as well. So im thinking now that its just an anxiety thing, or just a wierd THC tolerance I have. I really hope its nothing serious, because it will be so dissapointing if i cant do shrooms
My friend's brother has tried LSD before and he's fine. It didn't stop my friend from becoming bipolar. The choice is yours, but personally I wouldn't take the risk.
Sometimes, I will come across some exceptionally amazing pot and not realize it and I'll smoke as much as I normally do and I can sit and stare and have one of those mini trips, cheap trips, I suppose. Not wild or anything, but I can stare at a tree and watch the scales of bark change pictures and forms and whatnot. It's pretty fucking cool when that happens. But I totally don't freak out or anything.
Keep yourself focused on positive thoughts, smoke with people you are comfortable with. Always embrace what you love and live your best and it won't matter if you go crazy.
It's just anxiety. I have been there before. I've had "acid flashbacks" on weed that I am certain were simply the result of panicking. Take a little break, and next time you smoke, just smoke 1-2 hits, and RELAX... just breathe, watch a movie... try not to "think" too much (of course don't think too much about trying not to think, because then you're thinking too much again!). There was a time when I thought I would have to quit smoking weed because half the time I started freaking out or felt anxious/uncomfortable, but it passed as I got more in touch with my ability to calm myself, relax, and quiet my inner monologue.
