i never knew people tipped on tattoos, man i feel like an asshole now since i didnt when i got mine done.
The general 10-20% guideline for tipping works for tats too. So just stay on the lower end of the range and tip 10%. Now I'm curious why you're making a point not to over-tip...
i'm intrigued as well for reasons for not over tipping. i tipped buddy 15$ for a $180 tattoo. i thought that was fair, and i didn't have much more money then that anyways lol.
I always just tip the best I can. If im poor, then I give what I can, and when i have the money I give it.
Everybody here is pretty much right on target. Tip a little more if they do something spectacular, spend alot of time on you, or are otherwise deserving of a tip. I'm also curious. If you don't want to overtip for this particular person, then why tip at all? Why go back to him for that matter? I'm sure you have your reasons, but tipping IS NOT obligatory. It is gratitude for a job well done. If something was not right in the past, I'd make it clear to this person why I wasn't totally satisfied and give them the chance to make it better. Politely expressing yourself will be much more appreciated than an insulting tip. JJust my 2 cents
