well, I surpassed Lea Lea's pregnancy with none....this time, not so lucky. My back just kills in the morning mainly. It was so bad this morning that I felt sick to my stomach from the pain. It's not just the lower back, it's almost my whole back..owee, lol I started taking this stuff called "lecithin" that my midwife was telling us about, but it's just a ligament relaxant. I should be getting all the rest I can right now, and I can barely get 4 hours of sleep at night cuz my back hurts so bad. anyone have any ideas how to ease the ache?
I had awful back pain with my daughter the last few months of pregnancy. It was mostly upper back, but it constantly ached. The best thing I did was get a prenatal massage, I have never experienced anything so wonderful. I also took warm baths in the evenings and it seemed to help. Only a few weeks to go!! Hope it goes quickly for you.
Back ache is common in subsequent pregnancies because your abdominal muscles are a bit weaker and the weight of the baby hands forward instead of being centered in your pelvis. SOME back ache is to be expected, you have a whole 'nother person in front of you! But you can do things to ease or prevent the pain. I advise my ladies to get a good pregnancy support belt, a WIDE one, you get get those at Babies R Us or another maternity supply store. Wear it snug, not too tight, and it will help put the baby in your pelvis and does wonders for the aches and pains. I am a huge believer in the maternity girdle, which every pregnant woman used to wear as a matter of course, I wish we'd see it make a big come-back. Some culture begin binding the belly at 4 months of pregnancy for this reason, it prevents back ache, hold the baby in the pelvis, prevents malpresentation, and IMO, makes for shorter, easier labors. They're a bit pricey, but you should wear it post partum as well, it REALLY helps you feel put together if you wear it for a few weeks after the birth until your internal organs re-adjust. See a chiropractor at least once a week, if you can afford it or your insurance pays for it. Sleep with lots of pillows, especially between your knees. If your mattress is too soft, get a nice, wide piece of plywood and slide it betwen your mattress and boxspring to firm it up a bit. Some women like heat packs, and some like cold packs, placed on their lower backs, try both and see which gives you the most relief. (not too hot, and not to cold). Feel good! your almost done!
I have never been pregnant but I have a fairly severe scoliosis so I know about back pain. I made a rice bag a few years ago. take some flannel sew a long rectangular pillow form not sewing the top up fill it up wtih rice close it shut and microwave it for about 3 minutes it makes your back feel so much better. or if you like ice store it in the freezer.
