anyone know the rules on organizing a rainbow gathering? I want to go to on in the bay city area figured I'd try organizing one. Is that possible?
Try plugging into the local Rainbow scene before trying to get a Gathering together. Rainbow Gatherings aren't usually organized by anyone, decisions are usually made by consensus.
Just 2 people have to agree to it. That is the General Idea or "Rule" as it goes. See, the truth just flows with Rainbow............ Palatka Ruth
Wow! What unhelpful responses. Anyway, Gatherings are held in National Forests. Having National Forests nearby might help in your vision. State Forests, National Parks, Wilderness areas, State Parks all have different rules. It's dangerous to press Nat'l Forest rules that we've been fighting for years and try to do the same in different scenario. Best not to go there. So step 1 is ascertain the availablility of a National Forest in which to gather. Then you get to step 2, which could be dozens of different things, from scouting to councilling to potlucks. Step 3 would be whichever Step 2 item among scouting and councilling was not done during step 2. How's that for helpful... or maybe also worthless, i dunno:leaving:
Yea they were all pretty helpful. Thanks a bunch guys. I'll see what I can do before it gets cooooooold
thank you for seeing the value in all the responses Claudiasecrets. I assumed that you were speaking of the Frisco area when you said 'Bay City area' and since California has some strong Rainbow Family networks, I figured that it would be best to plug in to the local network. If you aren't familiar with the Rainbow Gathering process, you may want to check out www.welcomehome.org
wow, so it's worthless & unhelpful to plug into existing Rainbow networks? And just for the record, we used to hold small Kansas City area regionals in a Corps of Engineers recreation area; we've attended spontaneous Gatherings on National Seashore land; and Nebraska regionals used to be on private land.
If the Bay City area means Bay City, MI, there's a really active and well established local tribe, with it's center of gravity in the Ann Arbor/Lansing area. I think they're about done till spring, unless the Fall Colors picnic in Ann Arbor is still coming up. Google Great Lakes Rainbow.
