I'm on the road- mobile and self-suficent - and wondering where I should go to winter outdoors? I like the company of family, and I also like to be useful. luvnya, K
depends on what kind of scene you're looking for. Some folks like to winter in Arizona because of the gem & mineral shows, which happen in January & February; there will be the Ocala Gathering in Florida during February; some folks like Austin as a winter hang. we used to do Austin for part of the winter & Padre Island for part of the winter when we were roading it. we know some kids who like to go to Mexico during the winter to do a cave cleaning project. There are a lot of winter choices
I resemble that remark. I just refuse to winter where I'm at ever again. Grandpa seems to be doing a good job at it. I'd like to give it a shot myself.
Thanks for the suggestions... The scene I'm into is "something new"- not easy to find, as, although I'm no grandpa w, I'm no kid ethier... I had great time in Ocala last (Even managed a good deed or two), but me and Florida aren't getting along too well these days- so we'll see how it's going then. Just spent time in sw Texas and got stopped by border patrol about a hundred times. Made me a little uncomfortable. East Texas is a little populated for my taste... Mexico is out for now (I've two dogs, a vehicle, and no passport) How about New Mexico? The border was empty, the Gila was beautiful, and the people were mostly sympathetic, but saw no fellow travelers. How's Albuquerque these days? AZ is a natural (ran in to a brother and sister on their way to Tucson a couple weeks ago- they recommended I head that way when I get the chance.), but I'm wondering about Bisbee. Heard a development war is fixing to fire up- any word on that? How cold does it get in southern Colorado? Meantime, dropping some kids off for school in LA late Oct / early Nov. After that, plan on a year or two of wandering around picking up hitch hikers and looking for good stories. Should have room for a couple or three riders, if anyone has the need or the itch, let me know. ----------------------- Heading to the heart of Babylon to party for the next few days- (come on, lucky 7!) - and then a couple weeks in the sierras. After that... wherever the wind blows!
There are a few folks in Albuquerque but I've heard that there's not much of a scene happening...quite a few Fam live up by Taos
