Hey everyone. I'm new here. I just wanted to comment on the many complaints I've read about pot prices. As a grower of ONLY TOP QUALITY MEDICAL GRADE POT, I can say for certain that it takes a ton of time and $$$$$$ to do it right. I have almost 10k invested in my equipment. (Indoor Hydro Grows) It can take 6 months of constant attention and labor to bring a quality crop to harvest. With the final product selling for 2800 to 3200 per #. Now you must add in the risk of being caught as a grower and then the risk of the dealer who is on the street and really sticking his neck out to many potential narcs. All it takes is one person to get busted and they could skweal like a little pig going to slaughter. The potential sentence for growing and or selling can be very high. LIKE YEARS !! Doesn't that kind of risk scream for compensation? I think it does. Paying 50 to 75 for an 8th, 100 to 110 for a 1/4 and 300 to 320 for an OZ is really a decent price considering what that bag went through to get to you. Its not at all like many smokers think to bring TOP QUALITY Weed to market. Its not drop a seed in dirt and walk away. Granted, you can grow pot that way, but thats shit weed. If ya want the good shit, it takes time and money. AND RISK. Opinions??? Pirate Out
I think growing would be a good investment, but I'm somewhat impatient, and I live with my 'rents, but I tried it once, and failed horribly. But really, I think people who grow, are some of the bravest people out there.
I grow sometimes now... My parents don't mind. They even water them when I'm away sometimes! I don't think there'll be a risk with it, as long as you don't get caught growing. Don't tell your customers that you grow, just sell weed to them. Also find a good hiding place for the weed because if you get busted and they find it, you're screwed! I think it sounds pretty nice! I grow decent weed and I give my plants a lot of care when I do, but it isn't top quality because I don't have the equipment... It sounds really nice, good luck with your grows!
Way to break it down Pirate. You forgot to mention my biggest expense, rent on my spot. It takes about 6 mo. from a clipping to a bag or about $5000 i n rent, $1500 in power, band $200 in soil/nutes. That doesn' even include my initial investment in equipment, and the odd replacement/upgrade. I grow organic which is alot more work and lower production,, but I want the best to get the best price. I get 4000-6500 a pound depending on how I sell it. I'm sick and tired of poeple whining about paying $60 for some shit that rips their head off. Most off the kids out here smoke mexi brick weed and think Beasters are the kind shit, and yeah $60 is a rip for an 1/8 of that, that's not what we're talking about here so get a clue or keep yr mouth shut.
You gotta understand that most of the kids on these boards don't know what quality is. Trust me, if any of them were able to get their hands on something worth while they'd snatch it up fast alright. You also gotta reallize that some people charge alot more than you said for good herbs. Numbers for 2800-3200? Yeah if you're selling in bulk, but people in my area who aren't in with the right folks will pay up to 5000 for a # of some kinds of herb. Granted not all herb has a rediculous pricetag like that, and the herb that does is usually nearly-pure sativa while odds are ahs to flower for a while, but still, thats waaaay too much. I do agree with you about the effort part though, it takes knowledge to grow properly, and loose lips are forbidden. That can be hard, considering if anyone gives me their ears I could go on and on about growing for hours and hours answering questions and what not. Peace and good vibes edit: with all that being said, as far as commercial is concerned if I was doing things on a larger scale and had the chance to get 6500, I'd do it without blinking thinking twice.... I guess it all depends on location.
Ewww! Weed that's all bricky and nasty tasting is soo gross! I've got some when I was down in the States there, revolting! I've also had crappy hydro weed that you can taste the fertilizer on, but those days are over... I like Canadian weed where I get it from. It is decently cured and properly grown. And yeah, it is a bitch when people complain about the price of organic shit, some of it is the best quality shit I've ever smoked!
edit: with all that being said, as far as commercial is concerned if I was doing things on a larger scale and had the chance to get 6500, I'd do it without blinking thinking twice.... Got to cut out the middle man, duke it out by the quap to get that much, can only move so much that way though.
All very good responses. Farmer, I hear ya on the rent and such and yes I did forget to include that. I pay $1650 per month which comes to $9,900 from seed to harvest. Assuming I only grow one # in that 6 months.......that makes for zero profit. Now add in 8400 watts of HID light at .22 cents per hour (EVERY MONTH) and you all can get an idea of what it takes financially to grow the best. In reality, street prices to the end buyer are actually pretty good. IMO. Of course I am only talking about top quality medical grade cannabis. I have no desire to work with anything less. (You pay more for a steak dinner that only lasts for 45 minutes and eventually turns to shit) Personally, I grow from clones. Start with one good mama and clone that bitch out till my room is full. I am indoors and the expense of growing indoors is atronomical to say the least. Also, the #s I gave for poundage above in my first post were at best price deals to the buyer. Depending on the strain it can go from 2800 to 4500 per pound in the Los Angeles area. For me, I only grow the best. I seriously spend hours per day caring for and babying these girls. My last product out on the street got RAVE reviews and was told over and over again that it was the best anyone had smoked in a long time. Which made me feel good knowing I've done my part. (and my best) There was only one complaint......................"way to stong". So yeah, If your buying dirt weed at those prices..........complain. ( and refuse to buy it) But if your getting the primo.............enjoy and know the care and love that went into every bag. Pirate out
Just curious, how big of a place do you need to run that sort of wattage? I grow on a real small scale, but every harvest I'm honing my skills more and more, but stuff like this I can't teach myself, ya know? I've heard 1000w for each bedroom, but that's just reading what others say on other boards. Do you need any sort of special breakers? Next year hopefully I'll move out of where I am now, and want to grab atleast a couple 1kers, but this isn't the sort of thing I'm just gonna jump into. All hypothetical at this point.
top grade is worth the extra cost. its not always around, and like you said 6 months total time, the grow, cure, ect... bc's and regs and mids are much easier,
oh, and for that stinky cronic, or your "medical" which is the same, no matter what name, mn prices go from 300 a zip (friends, best) to 400 or more, with pounds from 2500 to 5000 (if your lucky enough to find that much). people will scoop whatever I have, no one has weed...
