Its pretty much just Zinc Oxide, (basicly burnt Zinc). If your starting your dreads from scratch (backcombing) it makes it a hell of a lot easier, but it does give you the impression that your backcombing tighter than what you realy are, not that it really matters anyway. I don't mind the stuff, its cheap, and it lasts for ages... It wouldnt hurt to try it out.
    Peace

i used it. it is helpful if your hair is super straight, speeds up the back combing a little bit.

That same stuff is also used as a dog ear cleaner.

    -methyl salicylate-
"If applied in too high quantities it can cause stomach and kidney problems."
"it is commonly used as bait to attract and collect these bees..."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methyl_salicylate

    -silicone dioxide-
"...can lead to silicosis or (much more rarely) cancer, as the dust becomes lodged in the lungs and continuously irritates them (silica does not dissolve over time)."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silica

    -rosin-
"...because it is difficult to wash off." (and is pretty sticky and leaves residue in my personal experience)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosin

    -bentonite-
"Bentonite can be used in cement, adhesives, ceramic bodies...
"The ionic surface of bentonite has a useful property in making a sticky coating on sand grains."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentonite

That seems pretty expensive for only .2 oz. Personally, I don't think it is needed. Why not try sea salt? Much cheaper and more natural.

It is pretty good stuff, trust me it lasts ages, its only powder that why its so light but it does majorly help dreads knot up IMO.

talcum powder in small doses does essentially the same thing.

Everything causes cancer in high quantaties... Considering it only comes in .2oz and that lasts a good half year- a year many of the problems mentioned are invalid. The stuff really comes down to personal preference, I used it when I was backcombing, and it really does slash the time... but I dont use it now because I've realised that I'm not in any hurry. =)

Yeah I used that stuff when I was starting my dreads and for a while after but I always found it left my hands nasty and sticky with dirt gathering on them and that wasn't really what I wanted for my dreads so I stopped. It does help knots happen but personally I just prefer to have clean hair and let the knots happen at their own pace.

If you wash your hair frequently then it shouldnt really be a problem
