I wanna get my tounge pierced and i wanted somebody who has already gotten their tounge pierced to explain the whole getting it, eating with it, recovering thing, ya know how it went for u. Oh and is it possible to hide a tounge ring from parents? i hear its pretty difficult...

I'm not sure about pain, but if you get a dull colored stud then it's less noticeable. you will speak with a lisp though, which is a slight give away.

    Pain.
Tongues are generally considered one of the least painful piercings. The piercings contacts no nerves and should be little more than a pinch. Less painful than a decent bite to the tongue. Procedure can be somewhat uncomfortable but shouldnt take too long.
    Eating.
Will be difficult for a couple of days. Some foods you will definately want to avoid, and attempting to eat them will lead to much more pain than the piercing itself. Avoid spicy and alcohol, other than that liquids will be your friend. Swelling should be down in 2-3 days, or up to about 5 if youre unlucky, so eating over this period will be your main issue. Your speech will quite possible be a bit bugged also while you get used to it.
    Hiding.
Pretty easy. Your only issues will be your speech and eating habits over the first couple of days. I got my tongue pierced twice (on the sides) away from home, and after visiting home for a week my parents still hadnt realised there were two bars in there. However if your eating has gone out the window i think your mother might realise when you dont eat the food she makes you.. Especially if you sound like a git at the same time.

    Good luck

I agree with every bit of this post. I've had my tongue pierced twice( work made me take it out the first time because I couldn't talk). I felt NO PAIN at all when the actual piercing took place, but the next day my tongue was VERY swollen and sore. I couldn't eat solid food for the first day or two. After that I had no problems at all, even though I was sore for about a week. I wasn't living with my parents at the time so I can't help you as far as that goes, but my employer( 7 years after I had it done) noticed it almost immediatly and told me that I would have to take it out when I was working.

If you don't have a job already....I would just advise taking it out for any job interviews that you might have. As sad as it may be, many people still discriminate against that type of thing.

When i got mine done, it didn't hurt when the needle went through the top of my tounge but it really hurt when it went through the bottom.
Someone told me they did it wrong, they said they should have put the needle through the bottom to strat with( so maybe that's why it hurt me).
The only trouble i had with eating, was one time i was eating spaghetti and part of it got wrapped round my tounge bar and the rest of it went down my throught, which made me choke for a few seconds...lol.
I didn't have to worry about hiding it from my mum but there were some people i worked with, that didn't even notice it.

i got mine done a couple weekends ago and i love it, the pain wasnt bad at all, the worst part was the clamp that they use, and i knew the guy that done mine so he was being a prick and twisting the clamp to fuck with me... the eating isnt bad i ate pizza the first night i had mine done and stuffed peppers the second night just for the first week or so wash ur mouth out after you eat anything or drink anything but water or if it hurts, my speach wasnt bad at all it seems tough at times to control your tongue but once u get it its not that hard and after the swelling has went down theres pretty much no pain so i would suggest gettin it done :p its fun to mess around with when ur bored lol but no advice here on hiding it lol my mom took me to get my tongue pierced and a tattoo on the same day so she knew about it, sorry on that part :p

note to mums the words post:
most quality will pierce from the top down. piercing from the bottom is quite akward and theres and if the piercing goes slightly off centre then it will show.

Possibly. Thats just my opinion. I feel it has a very strong basis and its a very popular opinion, but it could be wrong.

i've a tongue piercing 4 years and i want to tell u that the feeling is great. I remember that i didn't feel any pain and i hadn't problems after that. It was i little bit uncomfortable to eat and talk the first 2-3 days, but it was very funny. Now i can't without it - it's a part of me and i feel strange when i get it off. So there isn't anything too painfull... and about the parents - i think that mine haven't seen it yet

everyone has different pain tolerances, thats one of the great things about body modification, you learn how your body reacts to pain and how it heals.

as for hiding it from the parents,
they make "skin" toned jewelry and clear jwelry
