Alright first off, when I start the laptop it goes right into the user logon screen fine. I enter my password, and it says it's loading windows... Problem is, it never starts Windows Explorer, instead it opens My Documents for some reason. It's not a big problem, but it's a hassle to have to hit ctrl+alt+del all the time and go through that shit with a tiny laptop touchpad. Second problem isn't really with Vista, I just want something that is almost exactly like MS Office but free, since I have to use it for school ALL the time to read lectures, and I don't have the cash to dish out for it. Either a similar program or some help with finding a crack for it. If you're gonna help me find a crack, it's Microsoft Office Student and *something* 2007...
If Vista starts a "Documents" window, then I would think that explorer.exe would have to be running. Is this your problem?
ok the best thing i can say about vista is get rid of it, it sucks the features are very little from xp, theres so much hassle withlicences for programs it just major sucks. go back to xp and problem solved
Okay yeah because spending 200 bucks on some stupid fucking old operating system that is going to be outdated in a couple years makes sense... Jeez thats SO much cheaper than just dealing with the fact that it takes some time to get used to Vista, right? Jackasses. I don't want a product pitch for xp, I want help with VISTA. For everyone else who is trying to help, I am gonna check out openoffice because I have been hearing about it for a couple days so I'll see how it goes.
I don't know about how to fix the boot up problem, but I do know that OpenOffice is pretty good. IBM just came out with a free office suit that is based on OpenOffice. It's called IBM Lotus Symphony. There are two more options for your MS Office problem: You can buy it from an academic retailer such as CampusTech.com They have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 for $170, all you gotta do is prove you are a student. The other option is more like cracking the program, only you wouldn't really be cracking it. You gotta get on a PC at school and open up Microsoft Word 2007 and then copy the Product ID. If need help with finding that, then PM me.
Vista is just xp with a shit load of problems thrown in just put xp on there and wait 3 years till they bring out windows 7 seriously - vista is like dog shit -once you find out what its really capable of you just want to get rid of it
Shut the fuck up, n00b. It's not a matter of getting used to Vista, unless you want to get used to the fact that it SUCKS. Just torrent XP.
Anyone who saus vista is good is talking a load of nob cheese. THE ONLY thing that vista has which other operating systems dont, is that you can plug in a usb flash drive and use it as extra ram - not a page file disk but yes - extra ram
Well considering that I'm running a 1.6ghz dual core it wouldnt make any sense to go back to xp because it doesnt multitask the same with a dual core and im not spending the money and im not torrenting a fuckin fake
I never said I wanted to get rid of my OS, I want to FIX it. I am completely satisfied with Vista. Why is it that all computer nerds run Linux like the fuckin german army, a bunch of nazi's. It's impractical considering this is a laptop and I don't have the time to be doing source code bullshit and I don't have the time to install an OLD OS then uninstall it in 3 months when it becomes obsolete. You're the reason nerds get fuckin made fun of I'm glad I beat you little bitches up in high school.
I use linux, and I am not a nazi. And now the people you supposedly beat up in high school are pwning the companies that you work for. I think he needs a slash ban
Sounds like your machine may be full of spyware. I would clean that up first and install a firewall. You also need to learn how to turn off startup programs. I haven't used Vista yet so I am not sure how you do that with Vista, but if you are going to use that operating system you need to learn. I am not sure msconfig works in Vista, but since you are using it you need to know.
Somewhere along the line you've ticked something or allowed something to set some sort of system ini or bat file to start your unit on your documents. You need to know why that happened, or it will happen again.
Because Linux doesn't suck balls until they bleed. You don't have to mess around with source code just to run Linux.... Vista is brand new and it's already obsolete. Obsolete: No longer in use or no longer useful. And I'm glad those kids you beat up own your life now.
I'm not trying to get into this little fight you guys got going, but I like Vista. Sometimes I do think about switching back to XP or trying Ubuntu, but in the long run I know I'll miss my Vista.
