this was so cool i had to share. http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=67160 years ago i knew a guy that had a pet deer that would come in the house and eat, then scratch on the door when it was ready to leave. ive had many deer fairly tamed down, but never as tamed down as the ones in the video, nor my old friends way back when.
there's a park over in japan famous for tame deer, but the're actually a slightly different species then our north american mule deer. not that there THAT different, other then the degree of tameness. i mean their not behind fences or anything, they just wander arround and people feed them like you would squirrels or something. like the cows in india. i forget the name of where it is off hand. but its pretty well known arround the world. in california we've got some kind of a messed up law where people can be thrown in jail for doing that. i don't know if its everywhere or just in some counties or what the deal is, but people have made the news, mostly little old ladies, by getting arrested for it. =^^= .../\...
thats bullshit. here its just illegal to keep them captive, other than that you can tame them down as much as you want. i had 2 bucks that would almost eat out of my hand.had worked with them for like a year, hunting season came an the neighbor lady shot them both. i kinda quit taming critters down after that.
But the one I popped in your front yard tasted pretty good.....reminder....dont shoot a deer on impluse right before dark and while xxxxxx....(refering to me).
well, it's no good taming deer if there's a chance they're going to be coming across a hunter, like me. though i'm the sort that'd probably be shocked and amused and see what would happen, there's a whole lotta people who wouldn't hesistate to shoot. they're hungry, after all.
I walk through various glades and came across a pack of white tail deer, about 10 of them. I managed to get close to them by being still and quiet. One of them was about 6 feet away from me and kept walking up to me slowly. I kept stepping backward slowly and he kept following me. I thought he might bite me in the tummy or something. I walk barefoot on trails and my steps are totally silent. I sneak up on these deer from the back side and downwind while they're busy munching on leaves. They don't even know I'm right next to them until they turn around. Then they usually run away like a spring was up their rear end. I have some concern over the ticks that follow them and lyme's disease. There was a swarm of insects over a group of deer that sounded like 60 Hertz hum. I stayed away from that bigger group. .
