Hey, I have been thinking about getting my lip pierced for a while but i'm kind of worried about gum recession...so I was just wondering if anybody has had any problems with this...and which type of jewelry will better prevent gum damage, a ring or labret...and did you have any other problems with the piercing? If anybody has any info it would really help me out. Thanks for reading! peace
The ring would be the way to go. Now,.. I did something stupid... I peirced my own with a clothes pin... Twice. I was lucky not to get an infection but was not careful with cleaning, and right after peircing went for a couple smokes. Just keep it clean and you will be fine.
if you go to a good piercer, they should be able to place it so that you wont have any gum damage. ive never had a problem with mine, rings and studs are both good. its a lot harder for rings to affect your gums though.
thanks so much for the info...btw do you think i could pull off a side lip piercing...my friends won't give me a straight answer! lol...this will be my first piercing other than my ears, which i stretched to 4g (soon to be 2g YAY!), so i want it to be right...i have a few pictures but they're not the best... let me know what you think! thanks peace
yeah, actually i think that piercing would suit you better than any other one i can think of lol and thats saying something cause i usually dont like side lip piercings all that much. go for it!
my gums got a little screwed up after i got my lip done (i have a labret stud) but after it healed i got a new shorter stud put in and now it doesn't rub anymore. my dentist even said after my gums got screwed up it wasnt really a big deal as long as i got it changed soon. and i did. so i mean it might rub for a while but after you get a shorter post it should be fine.
ive had my lip pierced for almost a year and have worn both studs and rings and ive never had a problem with it. im about to get 2 more piercings in my lip
