ummm.... yes there are many many fruitarians, just because you dont believe it doesnt mean its not true.
read again. i wasn't saying that. anyway, just to defend myself ahah, i've been looking around the web for information about vegetarian diets, and i found all kind of positions.. from the "the medical uk asoc supports vegan diet on babies" to "13month old vegan baby almost dies from starvation". these are true, the links are in spanish, sorry. so i guess its still to early for me to make such a change, and my stupid convictions still are strong. but i have to admit the vegan world is moving and moving fast. sorry my english.
is that 13 month old baby link about the parents who only fed the kid apple sauce and soy milk? if so those parents where extremely stupid bad parents. and are a bad representation of vegans.
well i'm sorry but a bad representation it's still a represenation. all i'm saying there's a lot of work ahead. and a global diet change is something the mind of the world will dictate, not us.
children nearly die from all sorts of things....alot of it comes from bad or inexperienced parenting. There are thousands of American children right now, developing diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, and any other number of health related issues as a direct result of poor, meat filled, overly processed food diets. Thousands of them, and yet you bring up a single vegan child as a shining example. I can tell you, generally I can pinpoint these poor diet children in a crowd, or at my children's school....I'm not so sure I can pick out the vegan children, although I know for a fact that there are several. No boney, starving children as far as I'm aware. These are bad but accurate representations of a meat eaters diet....should I assume that these apply to you as well?
Well, it doesn't matter if you are religious or not. Some people are, and that is why they are vegetarians. You wanted to know why people are vegetarians, and I was trying to explain. I understand and know the reason we are where we are today is because of our ancestors, but that doesn't mean that in 2007 I have to eat animals to be successful in life, but yes, I see your point. Well, that depends. If I am meeting all my nutritional requirements, then I should be fine. If not, I will need to do more research to make sure I am getting all of the nutrition I need. There are other sources for what is found in animals, you know. I was only trying to say that if you should ever be interested in not eating animals or plants, you could be a fruitarian. It has nothing to do with the world and wishes, really. I must thank you for debating with me. I haven't had good debate in a long while .
I'm sorry to say so, but eating a fruit or a nut is killing the seed that could've formed an other plant, but it's not wrong to kill something that only might've been or what?
i'm going to edit that, it wasn't the best thing to say. that's a shiny example because this is a new DIET, not a new soda drink. assume what you want, it doesn't make any difference. you are pretty right after all.
i think this is great and altough i'm not becoming a vegan any time soon, i have to say this really make me think... so, i have 2 points. 1-becoming a vegan is probably an option now. 2-not to eat animals it's just a practical version of the love for the world. :bigear: :bigear:
But that isn't the only reason why someone's vegetarian or vegan. Some of them also don't drink milk or eat dairy products like cheese. I ate something from a chicken's cloaca this day H) and it wouldn't bring forth something alive and neither it has ever really lived.
not true, eating fruit doesnt mean you eat the seed, depending on the fruit. some ya do, some ya dont. i believe that eating fruit and seeds is not wrong, just like i think abortion is not wrong, but for a different reason. but still i dont believe killing a plant is wrong.
How is it meat eaters even compare eating meat to eating plants/veggies? this is just another one way the fuck up there on my stupidest shit i've ever heard list. alot of fruits want to be eaten so that you'll eventually crap their seeds out somewhere else. A plant doesn't scream and squeel or bleed all over when you end it, you do not need to eat rotting corpses to live a healthy lifestyle. I know what it's like to be a meat-eater, and be around a vegetarian, you don't think anything of it, make fun of them and/or come up with excuses why you "need" meat and dairy because that's how you were raised, when I realized how fucked up the meat industry was, and really thought, wow i'm taking part in slow brutal abuse and murder all done by hicks and illegal immigrants who don't care about the health or well being of the animals. It wasn't until I stopped that I realized how sick I thought it all was. About the tiger.. Ok look at a tigers teeth first of all, second is their instinct in the wild, in the wild they evolved to only eat meat and thus do so naturally, they dont grow and confine, rape abuse, drug up then brutally kill the animal. Humans however have mostly FLAT teeth, not vicious fangs. Meat doesn't naturally taste good to us which is why people put so many things on it. I usually am silent and respectful about food choices around people but I just feel like it doesn't matter in here, because it is a VEGETARIAN forum.
My philosophy on veganism is that I don't like to cause unnecessary suffering. There is a shitload of suffering in the world, and it sucks. I don't want to cause suffering, so, among other things, I choose not to partake in a factory farming system that not only kills animals, but gives millions of animals a shitty life. Granted, sometimes suffering is needed for organisms to survive. Everything must die, for instance. Indeed, there are minerals that humans *need* that are hard to get from non-animal sources. However, I am in the finanical position to reduce the suffering caused by existance by eating a vegan diet, and using supplements to get the nutrients I need to stay healthy. I am against unnecessary suffering. I am in the position to limit the amount of suffering cause by my existance. Therefore I am vegan.
Uh, they do 'bleed'. Screaming and squeeling is all in the way you handle when you kill it, it's pretty easy to kill a cow quick and silently. And most meat-eaters don't eat rotting corpses as far as I know Those who eat meat don't all feel like they have to come up with excuses. I'm sure people can live without it, it just feels natural to me to eat meat and I also find meat to be quite tasteful. But happily you can also enjoy meat without taking part in the large commercial meat industry, which indeed is a shame to humanity. So what? Neither does the cacao or coffeebean for example. I see.
lol you hve no idea how stupid you sound to me, and probably I to you. But whatever this arguement will go nowhere sir almighty defenseless animal slayer. good day.
Too bad, I was hoping for a post with some good arguments. Where did I sound so stupid? I can imagine you don't see anything in the 'bleeding' reply though, hehe. Thanks for seeing me as almighty, but not all animals are defenseless. Good day to you too.
meat eaters trying to give a good arguement to a veg why eating meat is .. well. it's like.. here i'll show you. "Those who eat meat don't all feel like they have to come up with excuses. I'm sure people can live without it, it just feels natural to me to eat meat and I also find meat to be quite tasteful. " to a veggie thats like someone going on trial for murder and saying, I don't have to come up with a reason why I killed her, it just felt natural. I wouldn't eat my dog, and same goes for a pig. hell, almost anything can be a pet. The animals most people eat in general are the defenseless ones, chickens with their beaks off since birth, pigs caged their entire lives, and cows. If you go out and wrestle a fucking tiger in the wild, and win. there you have it, then and only then would eating meat be anything special, then eating meat would be "manly". Meat is rotting flesh. It just looks like a stupid arguement(both ways) to me because more then likely I won't change your views, and nobody is going to convince me to gnaw on any part of a dead body of any species. oh, and the plant- to meat comparison. that's just silly ;p Edit: there you have it lol i think i replied to everything I wanted to -_- i'm not trying to change your mind, because I know I probably won't and that's what most meaties don't get. People generally change themselves. Oh, and I don't think i'm better then you because of it.
What about animals that eat their own young? I've seen wild cats and dogs as well as domesticated cats and dogs do it....for whatever reason....so, while humans consuming animals is wrong, it's ok for animals to consume other animals....I'm not sure I understand.... And the whole "eating something that came from a chicken's vagina..." um....our chickens will eat their own eggs if we do not take them out of the nesting boxes quick enough....most birds that lay will do this.... And the dairy thing.....like cows who nourish their calves with their milk, so do we.... Rotting flesh? While we make every attempt to NOT eat bad meat, there are plenty of creatures that sustain on it.....vultures, insects, possums..... Moldy milk? Cheese.....um mold is a naturally occurring process.....not all mold is bad for you.....in fact, we all know they make medicine from it.... While I agree with you all that factory farms are TERRIBLE.....what about the farmers that raise their livestock on REAL farms? And instead of transporting their animals to a slaughterhouse choose to slaughter "on site" on the farm? Do you mean that humans being hunters and gatherers is all a lie? Do I have teeth for biting into flesh AND grinding plant materials for no reason? Do we all? If you look at the anatomy of a horse (a herby) and then that of a human (an omni) do you know see the difference in the digestive organs? I respect you all, please don't think for one instant that I look down on your choices....we have the intelligence to choose what we will and wont put in our mouths....but instead of saying "all animal products are bad" knowing that humans as a whole will NEVER go away from eating or using them totally....wouldn't it be better to put your energy into rallying for the welfare of said animals? If you do it because you feel that it will stop the suffering of animals....don't you think that instead of one cow or a few chickens a year that you do not eat (who will be killed anyway) it would be better to push for these animals to lead more natural, happy lives? Tell companies who factory farm that we are taking our business to the ones that don't! And for those of you that do it for "health"....well, you can teach us cavemen and women how to cut back on our intake of meats and dairy products by teaching us some alternatives....hey, I'm up for that! And to the person above that referred to people in the meat industry as "hicks" SHAME ON YOU! Don't judge a person who chooses to make their home and living off of this beautiful land by raising not only livestock but the damn veggies you stuff in your face! <-----that's the part where i get mad.
Haha thanks for your post, it makes good sense. I'm not trying to change your mind neither. On the contrary, I admire your choice of not supporting the meat industry. Of course neither of us is better because of our choices here, at least we think and have an opinion about it and aren't mindless consumers.
