I'm starting work on Friday with kids that are transitioning out of Juvie or other "troubled kids" rehab type centers back into their homes and I'm probably being super paranoid, but I'm really afraid they'd find me on this site and be like "HAHA! You're a fucking joke, why should I listen to you?" Anyone else in the helping professions more specifically (teaching, nursing, social work, clinical psych..) and are worried about affiliation with this site? I believe marijuana should be legalized and blah blah blah but that's NOT what I'm going to be telling my kids when it's either they pass a drug test or get in even more trouble that they can't afford. I especially don't want them reading about MY drug experiences (Or sexual experience or anything else I've spilled on these fine forums). If it's relevant and helpful, I'll tell them about my past experiences of course, but there's a time and a place for things like that. I don't know, I just don't want to fuck my career up before it even begins... SO I've deleted all my photos and actually deleted my photobucket account all together just incase I linked pictures elsewhere and forgot about um'. Is this legit or am I being uber paranoid?
Well that just makes you a hypocrite and the reason drugs are still illegal is because of people like YOU. Then try to push that it's bad to others. But I understand what you mean, and you should be fine unless I was one of those kids haha. But, I doubt that many would use, much less look through hipforums and come across you randomly.
The chance of it happening is slim, but obviously still possible. I don't think you are being too paranoid I think you are looking out for your future. You took the right precautions and you did it for the right reason (to keep yourself in the clear).
I'm not a hypocrite. I think marijuana is fine WHEN USED RESPONSIBLY. I'm going to be with kids that haven't been using drugs or behaving responsibly and need to understand that if they keep doing what their doing, life is not going to be treating them well. I'm talking like their parents don't want them anymore, the system doesn't want them anymore so they can either pull their shit together or go live on the street and try to find a job as a 16 year old high school drop out. What am I suppose to tell them?
damn, thats harsh bud Man. Youre fuckin 16. The reason drugs are still illegal is not because of people like her. Drugs are still illegal because people don't educate themselves, and are ignorant. Southern baptist-esque senators think marijuana really is the devil, because they were exposed to lies and documentaries like Reefer Madness. The fact is Marijuana itself is illegal because of propaganda spread in the 1920s against Mexicans and Blacks. As a nation I don't believe we are racist anymore, and as such the laws will subsequently follow and eventually decriminalization. It just takes time. Don't call her a hypocrite, thats not cool to pass out judgement like that.
My age has nothing to do with it man, and its part of the problem. I'm not saying she is the issue, but people who use drugs, then tell others its wrong. No matter who they are, they have no right to when they themselves do it, yet speak out against. It's like a politician, they speak out against drugs and how bad they are, but once in awhile they're caught and everyone calls them a hypocrite, whats the difference?
I'm not telling anyone it's bad. I'm not judging anyone. I'm just trying to make sure kids get their lives back together before it's too late. Me saying "Yeahhhh man, getting baked is awesome" when these kids are ALREADY on drug testing BEFORE I meet them isn't going to help anything or anyone.
The difference is she is not a politician. And the difference is she is above the age of 18, and so is considered an adult and not a minor, by the U.S. Therefore, she has had at least enough sense to keep herself alive this long, not ruin her life by drugs, and is helping kids not ruin their lives either. An example of a hypocrite would be someone who came in 15 minutes late to work because they were blazing, and then they go and tell kids not to do any drugs because it can effect their priorities.
I think it might not be an idea after you become comfortable with the kids to tell them "yea.. i smoke marijuana.. but i also hold a full time job and make a living out of my life"...show them that it is possible to be responsible with drugs.. also if they know you do shit too.. or use to do other shit.. they may become more open to you because you've been there before
I think you are just being wayy paranoid. However I do think that girl that said that thing about throwing a rock and breaking a window at a specified campus should be worried. How many windows of dorms rooms at a specific university break at once? You however, I think, are fine and shouldn't be such a sketchball.
