So I was sitting in here minding my own business listening to pink floyd and my mom walks in and is like "Elyse you really break my heart with the music you listen to!" and I said mom thats ridiculous. and shes like talking about "how much she taught me about the lord" and all this dumb bullshit and kept talkign about how her kids break her heart cuz they act like they dont believe in god. which none of us do, we just pretend we do or else well be disowned from our retardedly religious family. It just bugs me so bad that she seriously interferes with every aspect of any lifestyle i want to live, unless its the christian one. And I cant tell her i don believe in her god. Jeez I want to so bad it makes me so mad and sad that she cant just except her own child the way she is. Ugh what do i do?

You stick it out a year then leave. Once you are out you only have to deal with it every once in awhile. Get a job if you don't have one and start saving.

Good luck to you, you seem to be thinking straight and at your age you should be proud of that.

    So Mom.

Is Fitty Cent a better listen than Pink Floyd? The Game, Fat Joe?

I know you'll just love the gunfire in the background!

Religion is the definition of insanity.

Religion = faith = belief without evidence.

Belief without evidence? That's what allows people to believe they are superman. Or adults to believe in the tooth fairy. What do we do with such people? We lock them in rubber-rooms and insane asylums.

Religious people are no different. The only difference is that they are all insane together. Together, they are too large of a force to lock up. That would be one hell of a hospital bill, no?

Needless to say, if religions weren't so large, religious people would be locked up. In fact, the smaller a religion is, the more insane it is considered: scientology, Raelians, etc. Both beliefs are as logically valid as major religions' beliefs are but they aren't considered as valid. The same is true with an adult belief in the tooth fairy.

Your mom is insane and there is no reason to be affected by her insane feelings and ramblings of you. If you really love your mother then try and help her overcome her insanity.

Dude! Exactly! Its such bullshit what she believes and I know it but if i say that ill seriously get like disowned. I fucked up man. My parents, well my whole family, refuses to believe or even look into anything but christianity. and they WILL NOT except it if i choose not to believe it. Ill get bitched at and be disappointed in for the rest of my life. Im left with choosing to be happy, or having them be happy. I dont know... I shouldnt et angry. but my family is a huge part of my life... and its so sad and frusterating. I just dont have the balls to say anything about it. Im a people pleaser. i dont want my family to hate me. I except what they believe, why cant they except what i believe. I lie to them about fuckin everything in my life cuz if i tell them the truth theyll get pissed. Im so tired of it. ill be 18 in 3 months. Im an adult now. and i still cant make my own decisions without getting ridiculed. gah! sorry for ranting.

Part of being an adult is realizing that you have to make your own decisions, no matter the consequences and to accept that others feel differently. Don't judge or try to change them and blow it off if they try to pressure you. Just be happy yourself and realize you can't control others.

parents think that their kids will always be the way they raised them.
my brother's into the jehova's witness religion, and my dad's...not too happy with it. even though it's still christian, "they re-wrote the bible".
my dad's an understanding and amazing guy, dont wanna make him out to be a brute. but thats just the way parents are.
like they said, wait a year then leave.

hey just 1 piece of advice !! NO MATTER what, you have 1 mom 1 dad and they will at some point in your life time make decisions for you. whether your 28 or 82 years . If they believe in all that they believe in they should accept you for who you are. I have my spirituality beliefs but i'm not far fetched WAY christianity type person. I hope you find your ground with your parents. Its very important to be openly honest with them. I know its hard.... and its a tough decision as well as a tough call for the both of you to talk about but just take baby steps.

You have every right to be who you want to be. You have the right to be what ever you choose. Just try your very best to be honest within yourself as well as others. Because the question is... if you have to lie to people is it the right thing to do?

I know with my kids i'd want peace with them and no harm in lying. Parents in general just want to be secure with their children. thats all

    Take care
    Teri

Tell your parents that you've developed an obsession for Richard Dawkins, and that you're running away to become one of his disciples. Then, run away and follow in the path of the great minds of our time, of which Dawkins is certainly one. That's my $.02's worth.

That's never a bad idea, you know, being drunk and high in front of your parents.

Tell her that she can't push her own beliefs on you. You need to be HONEST AND STRAIGHT UP with her! No matter how much you don't want to, you NEED TO!!! You need to find your own answers to this game. I grew up in a predominantly "Christian" family, church every sunday and wednesday and all that. Once I was old enough I talked to my mom like look It's hard for my mind to absolve the beliefs that you have, I need to find my own answers in this life....And so on and so forth, once your talking your heart will take over and you will get your message across :)

If you wanna get down and dirty ask your mom this question about her "Saviour"..... So if you don't accept "Jesus" as your saviour, you can't go to heaven right? Because whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life? SOO from the time jesus died until 500 years AFTER he died, all the people in south america, mexico, pacific islands, native americans, eskimo's, etc. ALLL went to hell? They never heard about him so how could they get into heaven? Even before Jesus, they never knew this so called "God of the Jews" they didn't even know their were "jews"......And jesus came to be the "Messiah, the chosen one" of the jewish people....the JEWISH people, and they KILLED HIM!!! What, The, Flying, Fuck??

Word it in your own words but I have YET to find a christian or pastor or deacon for that matter to answer that question! They all say, well I'm not sure I know how to answer that?? QUESTION WHAT YOU THINK YOU KNOW!!! They get preconditioned from their birth, and that's that ya know?? It makes me sick

Anyways sorry bout the rant, hoped this helped

Well just talk to her slowly. Like mom i've been having feeling I don't know how to deal with. It is hard for me to believe that jesus was my saviour and................Just ease it on in like it's a new thing, then slowly but surely she will learn your position :)
