We had an open discussion in one of my classes the other day. It was mainly focused on gender/race biasm. I spoke about employment and how if a woman went into a male dominant position, would they get treated different? Same with a man going into a female dominant position, would they get treated different? A guy in my class said that he didn't want to hear the "feminist bullshit" and started shaking and turning beat red. I'm thinking he wants to murder me now. What should I do? I was contributing to the discussion and now I'm a murder target for crying out loud!
psycho!! ick. i've seen it enough times, working in oil and gas companies, people ARE treated different, based on sex. they just ARE.
Sad, but true. I am in med school and there are more female doctors than male. But there arent any female surgeons. Every year, a lot of females apply for surgery, but they always take a guy. So women are always stuck with pediatry ,science and stuff like that. It sucks.
i doubt hes gonna go and try to murder you. but you could go to the prof adn talk about how the situation made you feel unsettled, and maybe ask if you could get his name in case there is an inident or something
His response only proves that what you said hit home for him. As he gains maturity and wisdom he will eventually realize this and it will sink in.
I think you should forget about that guy. He's obviously just upset because he doesn't want any woman to try to overpower him or anything. What you were saying was not feminist bullshit, it was just realistic and an obvious point to raise! So forget that aggressive guy.. maybe he's on steroids or something... in which case might be kinda scary
i hate assumptions about females. My father is very sexist and it pisses me off on a daily basis! He wouldn't let me learn how to drive a manual car because "women can't control a car." grrrrrrrr!!!
I talked to a kid that he was doing a project with and apparently he raised some eyebrows in all of his classes-in which-he dropped out of school. Apparently, he is one of those "dungeons and dragons" types of kids. I don't mean to stereotype, but he doesn't generally talk to people and he doesn't really have many friends on campus. I'm assuming it's due to his outbursts
what does THAT have to do with the topic at hand? nothing whatsoever. before you throw that little word bomb out, you should question WHO it is in power keeping the "selective service" registration alive.
Speaking of assumptions, there are some pretty good whoppers being made about this guy! He's "aggressive and one steroids and scary". Well women do tend to cause more accidents, statistically speaking.
what is that supposed to mean? are you responding to the wrong topic? You can't compare apples to oranges!
I actually found that offensive, (sorry) but my brother plays dragon and dungeons. He has loads of friends and isnt like that
Look it up for your own self. In major accidents, men cause the majority. In minor accidents, women cause the majority. Most car accidents are minor. Logic please.
i won't argue with that, though perhaps the statistics show that because women are more likely to report a small accident than men are.
Yes. And also women don't have as good depth perception and spatial intelligence as men do, on average. Sorry feminists. Are brains ARE built differently.
for someone who can't differentiate between "are" and "our" your logic is not valid. There are many many women who have good spatial intelligence. There are women engineers and architects who are very good at it and they need good spatial skills to do what they do.
Who cares if I made a grammatical error? Is your argument so weak that you have to make such a trite attack? Anyway. I said on average. So your whole argument is moot, and just supports my point by pointing out the exception to the "average". Thx. And women engineers and architects are the minority. BTW Men are notorious for being "poor communicators" yet there are male psychotherapists and counselers. I'm sorry but on average, women do have less ability with depth perception, measurement, spatial intelligence, etc. That's just the way it is. Evolution and all that, I suppose. Just like men don't percieve colors as good (men are more likely to be colorblind than women). Sure there are exceptions to the rule, but, you don't disprove the rule by pointing out the exceptions. I think it is you who has flawed logic.
that's true, too. i've got no problem with that. but men are also more likely to have subpar intelligence and mental illness. the benefits and detriments go both ways.
