I'm not sure this is in the right forum but I couldn't find a similar thread. I am thinking about keeping some dry goods and canned goods in case of depression-type situations or just plain poverty. What things would you suggest to keep on hand?
if you have no idea what your doing id reccomend going thru the LDS. they have fair prices on emergency food packs. this will give you a idea, http://www.pleasanthillgrain.com/foodpak1.aspx however id recommend looking up your local LDS church and getting a order form from them, much cheaper, but you must be there to help unload the truck. hope that helps.
oh... that was a confusing one to read... my dyslexia thought he was talking about LSD the whole time.... ...its funnier that way too.... however id recommend looking up your local (LSD) church and getting a order form from them, much cheaper, but you must be there to help unload the truck. see.... ha...
I'd include seeds for crops. Heirloom seeds are just that because they reproduce true to type from their own seeds, if you ask some of the seed suppliers they may be able to supply them packed suitably for long storage. If it were me I'd include a few "luxury" items ... if you have to live on rice, beans and dandelions for a year or two melons will sound awfully good to you. Besides that, they would be good barter material.
Thank you all very much! The information on those sites was very good and I will have to see if we have a LDS church in the area. Thanks again
