Think about them every day. Listen to them for endless stretches at a time. Someone tell me they'll come back sometime?
believe me bro there are many, many people out there feeling the same way lets just all keep our fingers crossed
newsflash" there is life after Phish! (took me a while to learn that about the Dead. Made my life much more fun.)
Finally another Phish phan who feels like me. I miss phish so much its ridiculous. I know that they're going to have a reunion concert and I am going to be there.
I could care less about a reunion concert - I want a touring, material creating, phull phledged phish! I believe it will happen once Trey is together and ready. I absolutly love Trey, I love Phish, and I know their days together are not over. BUT... I'm not in a hurry, They will get back together when they do and that will be a wondeous beautiful day. For now however I already have too many concerts of amazing and creative bands I want to see live. As drummin said there IS life after phish and it's darn good.
Well that would be awesome if they got back together...I have thought of it before. I was too young to see them in concert and I didn't know about them until recently so I have to see them live.
Of course there is! And, as was pointed out, there are lifetimes of good music out there now to revel in without wading through nostalgia. Still, when a musical artist that was as seminal to one's musical identity (and, in a large part, cultural identity as well), abruptly vanishes, it creates a vacuum that probably will never be filled. Case in point: I cacught Rush three or four times this summer. I've been a fan of them longer than I've been a Phish phan, and I'm just glad that their still playing tight, original music. I shudder to think what I'll do once they call it quits. But thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement. It will be a good day when the lights go down for the first time.
I'd be interested in a pre 95 type Phish. But if it's the same crap from 96' on then I could care less.
The shows that I saw post 96' were crap, I assure you. 20 - 30 minute rambling as 'jams' that never really went anywhere. There was no climax or payoff. The crowd would clap when they finally got back into the actual song, but that was just out of boredom with the jams from what I could tell. On the other hand, I saw them a few times in 1990-1991 and they were always sick shows. I'm sure it's possible that I had bad luck and happened to catch shitty shows post 96', but theree were no shitty shows pre 96'. Maybe that's Trey became addicted to crack? Who knows. Anyhow, I'd love an old Phish reunion, but don't want to hear the same crap again.
there is life after phish, its just kind of bland and boring. all shows i have seen have been good fun. but every show me and my friends always look at eachother and say "its great, but it just ain't like a phish show".....nothing can compare. i want phish back ready to create and blow me away. i thought Round Room was amazing. i can't wait to see what they come back with.
crap. It's all about opinions and what version of Phish you dig the most. 90-94 had strong furious point A to B jams. Tight strong pointed, Trey played with a cutting edge then and hardly any effects.(WELL.. compared to later). Seemed to be their 'one note at a time' stage more than any. 95-97 was a metamorphish(sooo sorry couldn't resist) stage. With jams getting looser and Trey's style picking up more delay. 98-00 was getting full on psychosize white boy funk delay jam stage. Many jams didn't really have an ending, but what they were doing along the way was really thick, textured, and layered. 00-03 was ... well does anyone really know? 95-98 and NYE 99 are my faves. Jams still had some ending most of the times but swampy jams in the middle which you didn't really hear pre-95 really struck a chord for me. One's Man Crap.... cheers, nnJ the noob
all true and i love it all!!! these are the reasons i love phish. all the eras offer so much diversity. my favorite are the delay and effect soaked years...i am a fan of delay and loops, all that cool texture stuff....the jams were long and they were loose....i love it....but i love all the early stuff too...awesome jazz songs played with such percision....weird Tweezer monsters.....life in the world of Phish has always been good....even at its worst, its still my favorite.....
and the the 03-04 shows had some epic moments. new songs like WOTC, Scents and Subtle Sounds, Pebbles and Marbles and seven below...offered some of the most amazing phish moments ever. shit even 46 days at IT was mind blowing...clocking in at just over 40 minutes, it was some awesome stuff.
