March? Is this an official march?

If so, I will join the other pilgrims on the journey to Burmese liberation. I believe Gordon Brown should announce to the protesters in Burma; Do not give up their fight.

I think I'd have to look into it a bit more before I thought about supporting it. I'm automatically suspicious of any movement supported by Bush or, for that matter, led by Buddhist monks....

The protests are now worldwide against Burma's military Junta. Mr. Brown has already issued strong protests to Burma's rulers.

Here's the kinda shit going down. I don't think it takes much "research" to know which side to take here...

This Japanese photographer was JUST SHOT TO DEATH (he's dying in the pix), by that Burmese soldier, just for taking pictures of the violent repression of pro-democracy demonstrators.

He's one of many of the UNCOUNTED dead.

Burma's military cut off the whole country's internet access today.

Buddhist monks are NOWHERE TO BE SEEN in Rangoon today. They've all been either arrested or hauled out of the city or imprisoned in their monasteries. Hundreds if not thousands have been beaten, some killed.

TODAY IS A WORLDWIDE PROTEST DAY AGAINST THE MILITARY CRACKDOWN ON PROTESTERS!

WEAR RED TO SYMBOLIZE YOUR SOLIDARITY WITH THE BURMESE PEOPLE!

According to the website of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order, Brighton Buddhist Centre is planning a demonstration for this Sunday. However the location and time remain a closely guarded secret, as there has been absolutely no publicity around the city.

its some of the saddest news right now... peaceful protesters getting mowed down by ignorant militarists. it just goes to show that you have to physically fight back. the aggressive will always dominate the submissive. its just the natural order of things.

dean, it's not so long ago in your own country that the National Guard opened fire on peaceful protestors, shooting dead 4 of them - Kent State, May 4th 1970.

Would you have advocated violent resistance to the Nixon regime? Would you have supported those like the Weather Underground who did resort to acts of violence?

Dead Student shot by National Guardsmen, Kent State University, Ohio, May 4, 1970.

You mean you're trying to tie in what is happening in Burma with what happened in 1970 in the USA???

    RIGHT FUCKING ON, DUDE!

No pain, no gain. That's how it works. Live FREE or DIE!

in a way, i would. Im all about peace and love, positive vibrations, etc...but when I comes down to it. We're still stuck in this shit and we're definitely havent reached any evolutionary oneness with each other to say "Hey asshole, You can stand there pointing your gun at me, but im gunna stand here and not do shit until you say your sorry!" and have it work.

but then again, when enough peace keeping monks are killed, you will see
the myanmar people become more agressive.

power to the people works. but you have to fight to achieve it.

..now excuse me while i go watch in v for vendetta. I think, this time, i might actually walk out my door after its done and start a revolution!

Say that when your flesh is being microwaved by a remote sattelite dish 300 yds. away. And the only people aware of the protesting are the protesters themselves. When the US puts us in concentration camps and marks us like cattle, i'd rather my mark not record that i'm an enemy of the state. I admire your conviction, but i believe you could achieve more by neglecting to buy as much as you possibly can. starve the monster. its hunger is its weakness.

I'll start taking you slightly more seriously when you stop using right-wing tabloids as your sources for information (especially one such as the Daily Mail, who happened to be Nazi sympathizers during the war.).

Sorry, but I'm not even going to give tabloids the light of day to enlighten me.

Stop buying goods from china if you think the chinese are supporting this although china most likely wont worry . The best thing would be arm and train the peaceful buddhists or just get people to assassinate leaders who are behind this .

Wherever you go you have a dis-balence of power between the ruled and the rulers so that things like this can take place .

The exceptions to this might be switzerland or america as it was supposed to be, if you have a armed population they may shoot each other but at least they have something to fight with when their government starts killing them .

Basically when you give over the right to bear arms your inviting tyranny and genocide, we have done that in this country and its only a matter of time before something like burma or nazi germany happens here .

I bet in burma you had simular attitudes to gun control that its safer for guns to be in the hands of the army to defend the country .....go to switzerland and every old granny has a sniper rifle thats the best way to defend a country and keep personal liberty
