i think my dad may have exposed my computer to a 'bad site' and now i've got problems.

i had tons of viruses picked up by my software, but the problem persists.

i keep getting a pop up every few minutes that tries to redirect me to a bad site. and control panel is gone from my start menu for some reason and when i try to change things like the wallpaper, it tells me i don't have access. it tells me this:

'this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator.'

i only have one username on my computer.

is there anything i can do? any ideas?

    thanks

    wipe, reinstall windows
backup -only- hte important files in case they have been infected. scan wahtever you back it up onto (flash drive etc) with a good anti spyware and good antivirus program(s) before you put it back onto your computer

    Install Spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
Install. Run updates. Scan. You may have to reboot afterward.

Then install Ad Aware. This cleans up after spybot. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

For trojans, go get "The Cleaner". Run the update, then scan. This is a trial version but will do the job well. http://www.moosoft.com/TheCleaner/Download

After all that, go get a firewall. This one is free and good. Not much configuration, but will give you decent protection. Click the button that says I only want basic Zonealarm protection http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp

This should get your computer back under your control. And DON"T use Internet Explorer. Most bugs are written just for IE.

hi , i dont know if you managed to solve your problem but...
first of all you should mention which operation system your using so it will help us/me know what we are dealing with :)
now you probably caught a spyware program, which firewall program wont help you but it wont hurt you to use one.
you should update your antivirus and scan your computer.
you can use this antispyware programs:
    ad-aware
    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007-Free/3000-8022_4-10045910.html
    Spybot-S&D
    http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html
    avg antispyware (my fav)
    http://www.grisoft.com/doc/downloads-products/us/crp/0?prd=triasw
try and see if it finds anything...
take notes of what it finds , sometimes it just wont rid of the spyware.
if it keeps pop-ups you should google the spyware name (what the anti spyware program found) and see if others have a solution , post it here , or just pm me :)
    hope it helps
