I know people are going to tell me that Im stupid for wanting to pierce myself, but oh well, here we go.

I was wondering if anyone has ever pierced their Labret themselves. and Im not talking about with a pin or sewing needle, I mean with a the right tools.
Was it hard to get the jewelry in? Have any tips for me???

It's not that I don't have the money to get it done or anything like that. I just wanted to do this myself. The guy that does my piercing's is going to supervise me while I do this.

Give me any details you have on this subject. Good and bad, all are very welcome.

but personally id recoment letting someone who honestly knows what he is doing do it.

I know people who've pierced themselves and others. If you do it yourself, it's not likely to be straight. I can understand that you just want to do it yourself, and I think it's a good idea that you are supervised. I don't know.. I don't really see a problem with it. Just don't be disappointed if it's messed up. It will always close and you can always do it over.

ive only heard horror stories of this. just realize, you are putting a needle through yourself. you will flinch and it will be crooked. you will probably also cut yourself in the process. this seems to have happened with everyone i know who has pierced anything on themselves. id say if you insist on not getting it done professionally at the very least have a friend do it.

    but its up to you

I agree with letting someone else do it. they won't feel the pain, and won't jerk or flinch or stop...like you could. I pierced my own belly button when I was 14. It took me forever and it hurt and I fucked it up. Now I have this ugly scar where it ripped out b/c I didn't do it through enough skin.

I also have a horrible belly button scar from doing it myself. Only I wasn't 14, I was 45. It didn't hurt all that much, but it didn't last. I'd love to have it done again but don't know if I can because of all the scarring.

I have several friends who have pierced themselves, they have been fine. Some of them piercings get infected, but the percentage of piercings that get infections are the same between the people I know who did it themselves and those who got it done professionaly, and those who did it themselves. I would even go as far to say the people who do it themselves get them less, if only because they are more careful after the piercing, cleaning and whatnot.

To the people who talked about the pain, the people I know who have done it themselves claim that it does not hurt even 1/4 the amount as when they get something done, something about self mutilation (I really don't mean that in a scarry bad way, it was the ONLY phrase I could think of) that increases dopamine and other happy neurotrasmitters. But they are... special kinds of people.... well versed in pain... but I would assume the same would apply to all... mabey...

Hola! (went all Spanish on yeh there for a second, working with Mexicans does have its effects, teehee) I myself am an expirenced "self-piercer" I've pierced everything from my ears (14 times) to my lip, eyebrow, belly button, clit and inner labia (part of the vagina for those who don't know :) ) most ARE straight..'cept one i don't have anymore, one of the cartlige rings...it bugged me cause it was a smidgen off. Anywho, why am i saying this? oh hell, cause i'm in the mood to blab!..okay.. well i used to have a friend, who suddenly turned into a "human pin-cushion" as people called him (ears halfway up and down, nose, eyebrow, labret, lip, nipples, belly button) The labret (as well as all the others) was un-professional, and was done when drunk and high i'm sure...........and is CROOKED...it was so annoying to look at him cause the labret ring he had in wasn't in the center.... it was off a tiny bit to the side! He didn't complain of alot of bleeding or anything, and it didn't become a problem, and is now okay.......
Now, here's what i'm getting at........... have someone do it FOR you, professional or not.....as long as they know what CENTERED and EVEN is -[laughs]- and as long as you TRUST them completely.....don't wanna assidently slip and put a hole in your chin somehow! (ha ha)

I dont understand any of these DIY people out there these days.... goto a professional and get it done right, theres nothin "bad ass" about piercing yourself, its stupidity, most piercers i know that are pierced wont even pierce themselves.... why becuase they know its better to have it done by someone else instead of doing it yourself. check out BMEzine and read some of the DIY stories and you'll see about 80-90% of them are how they messed up becuase they did it themselves

My best friend pierced her own nose in an airplane bathroom and her own labret last year before a concert. She just filed an earring to a sharp point, sterilized it and stuck it through. I couldn't believe it. I watched her do her labret and thought I would pass out right there! She had trouble getting it through but didn't give up until it went through and she succeeded. It swelled up twice the normal size and she was in alot of pain for the first week. But it's fine now.... I wouldn't do it.... I would just pay to get it done professionally.

But you said you are going to do it with all the right tools, and with a professional with you, I think you should be fine if you really want to do it yourself.

a girl i used to know did it herself with a safety pin. arg. sounds to painful to me. i pierced my nose with a safety pin though so i'm not one to talk. lol. if you know what your doing and you look after it properly there shouldn't be a problem, but research the body part first cuz you don't wanna hit a vein or anything
