New to Photography

Hello everyone,
I've been looking into starting photography for quite a while now and have took a few pictures that i think aren't to awful, but i don't actually own a digital camera and have only took photos on my phone so i was just wondering how to start off really. What would be the best type of camera to get? and has anyone got any good tips for me to improve my photography.

yeah, camera phone - all of them. i was well happy how they came out. but really want to get a proper camera to really do it justice. got any ideas?
that was taken about 15 minutes walk from my house, i'm pretty lucky really.

thank you very much. glad you like them. i've just bought a sony digital camera. it wasnt to expensive, coz i'm skint but its 7.2 MP wil 6x digital zoom and quite light and small, should serve me well with any luck. i'll post up some pictures with it when i get it in the post. X

 

Very nice pictures- especially considering that they were taken by a camera phone!
